Merryl Wyn Davies (born Merthyr Tydfil,Wales) is a Welsh Muslim scholar, writer and broadcaster who specializes in Islam, and the co-author of many books and articles with Ziauddin Sardar. She is also a leading exponent of Islamic anthropology.
Wyn Davies studied anthropology at University College, London, worked for Welsh local newspapers as a reporter, and then for the BBC, first in radio and then for TV, where she produced religious affairs and worked on "Everyman", "Heart of the Matter" and "Global Report." She produced a documentary, "Encounters with Islam."
She left the BBC in 1985 for the London Muslim magazine Inquiry/Afkar. After ten years in Malaysia producing "Faces of Islam" on TV, she returned to the UK and became Media Officer for the Muslim Council of Britain.
