During one eventful day, and through a series of flashbacks, the book explores the lives of an elderly woman, her mentally handicapped adult daughter, the 'other daughter', (lovely, successful, and increasingly the most responsible family member) and a young granddaughter on the verge of adulthood, who shares a special relationship with her handicapped aunt. Heartbreaking and at times almost hilarious, this is well written, insightful, and full of sudden and hard-won wisdom.

Sincere and touching. A fast read.

This writer is talented. The storyline is really not 'exciting' but the writing is so bueatiful that it makes you feel like you are right there with the characters. You can feel thier pain and understand what they are thinking.
