Peter Masters (born 1958) is an Australian writer, researcher and educator based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He attended primary school and high school in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs before attending The University of New South Wales for one year in 1976 studying Electrical Engineering, after which he and the university parted company by mutual agreement without any degree being conferred.

Following this, he worked in the fields of computer support and software development for a number of Sydney companies for 12 years. At 30 he left Sydney to study and practice the sport of fencing in Italy. This was a sporting interest he had first begun while in high school. Initially intending to stay in Italy for just ten months, his stay stretched out seven and a half years in both Italy and Germany. During this time he became fluent in both Italian and German, and also qualified in Italy as a Maestro di Scherma (master of fencing). He returned to Sydney in 1996.

Having displayed no apparent interest in writing before, his writing career began when he returned to Sydney and undertook a number of short writing courses, including one at the Workers Educational Association (WEA) in Sydney.

Primarily writing in the field of BDSM and sexuality, his most notable book to date has been The Control Book, a study of, and guide to taking and relinquishing control within personal relationships. The Control Book received an Honorable Mention for writing at the September, 2008 NLA-I awards.

His subsequent work, This Curious Human Phenomenon, extended his BDSM research into the motivations, psychology and mechanisms behind a wide range of common BDSM relationships and activities.

Another of his works, Look Into My Eyes, a study and exercise guide into the use of hypnosis with sex, BDSM and role-play, is noted as one of the first books to promote the use of hypnosis in a healthy sexual context .

Masters has written a number of erotic short stories and BDSM-related articles. He has also conducted numerous workshops and dominance and submission discussion groups.
