Peter Moore Smith is an American writer and was the recipient of the 2000 Pushcart Prize for his short story "Oblivion, Nebraska."

Smith has written two novels, Raveling and Los Angeles, both published by Little, Brown. His short story "Oblivion, Nebraska" was adapted into a 2006 film by director Charles Haine. His short story "Forgetting the Girl" was selected for the Best American Mystery Stories Anthology and a film adaptation, directed by Nate Taylor, is currently in post production. Smith is the brother to actress Julianne Moore and currently resides with his wife and son in New York City, New York.
