One of the "go to" books for understanding synagogue services and basic background material for the prayerbook.
This book is extremely accessible in comparison to books on the same subject matter written by George Robinson, Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz or Abraham Millgram.
If you are absolutely and completely new to synagogue services, start with the book by Jordan Lee Wagner called The Synagogue Survival Kit.
