I LOVE this series. Makes me want to go find their town and live there.
I believe this book is the 2nd in the series, with 32 (and counting) books so far in the series. Different authors, but same characters.
The flavor of the books remind me of Mitford-I'd like to live there too.
Books center around the lives of three sisters in their 50's and 60's.(?) After their father died, they decided to turn their childhood home into a bed and breakfast inn. All have different talents that contribute well in running the inn and with their guests.
This book is about the youngest sister who is the Inn's chef. She finds her mother's old handwritten cookbook. This is very important to her as her mother died when she was born and she has always felt left out by not knowing her mom. This book does include some recipes.

Jane, the youngest sister, never knew her mother (Her mother died when she was born). One day when Jane was at the inn alone she goes up to the attic to look for Grandma's trunks and discovers a trunk that belonged to her mother. She discovers pictures and letters and one thing that Jane feels a connection to, a cookbook. Jane uses her mom's recipes and starts reading the notes her mother wrote and finally starts to feel like she is getting to know her mom. In the meantime, she is branching out and starting new ventures to help finance the inn. She also finally connects with her sisters and also helps others who are hurting that cross paths with the inn. There are also recipes sprinkled through out the book. I couldn't put it down.

While cleaning out the cluttered basement of Grace Chapel Inn, Jane Howard finds an old cookbook brimming with her mother's recipes and handwritten notes. Jane has always been hungry for details about her mother, Madeleine, who died while giving birth to Jane. Through the precious, fragile pages of the recipe book, Jane comes to discover the spirit of the mother she never had the chance to know. And she comes to better understand her relationship with her two older sisters.

But when the inn gets busy and money troubles threaten, Jane wonders if moving back to Acorn Hill was a big mistake. Her crisis of faith leads to new questions and solutions for the inn--and for Jane herself.

This lively and engaging story will have readers excitedly waiting for the next title in the series, so they can learn more about the endearing Howard sisters.

BeautifulCopy! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The Howard sisters are very interesting. Each one of them brings something warm to the table. Jane, the youngest never got to know their mother because her mother died after giving birth. Even though the other two sisters always remind her that she has her mother's looks and creative genes for art and cooking,Jane feels robbed of never having the chance to have a real relationship with her. Then she finds her mother's old recipe book and through these recipes that she makes, and the inscriptions that are handwritten after each recipe let's Jane really get to know her mother. She realizes the bond that they both share, thus giving Jane ideals to create more recipes. She can finally tell her older sisters that she wants a sisterly relationship and not a stand-in mother. This brings all the sisters closer. I especially loved many of the recipes and have tried some. The love of God that their father instilled in all three keeps them all going to God for everything, especially when they know that their way isn't what their father taught them. To God be the glory. I look forward to reading each book and learning more about Acorn Hill and all that goes on in this small town.

I like this series a lot - very quick read and this installment had recipes that worked. Each book written by a different author, some better than others. This was a good one.
