Rosie Author:Anne Lamott As a woman's daughter grows older and more curious, she must find a way to nurture her extraordinary daughter--even if it means growing up herself.
Precocious, eight-year-old Rosie Ferguson discovers the unpleasantness of real life through the actions of the father of her best friend, Sharon Thackery.
I'm a huge fan of LaMotte and really enjoyed this book. It tells of a woman (a tad eccentric - and a burgeoning alcoholic) raising her daughter, Annie, alone - the growth she makes as a mother, a friend, and a partner.
I enjoyed the book, although I wish I had read it prior to having read "Crooked Little Heart." Anne Lamott has become one of my favorite writers, and the way she develops characters is wonderful. If you are thinking of reading this book, I would suggest you read this first and then go directly to "Crooked Little Heart," which I would give five stars. These make a fine pair for readers.
