"I'd rather be dead than dying." -- Stephen Evans
Stephen Evans (born 27 November 1970) is a British actor and comedy writer in theater, film, radio and television. He graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Theatre at Dartington College of Arts in Devon (1992—95).

Member of five-man comedy sketch group Dutch Elm Conservatoire. Nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the show Dutch Elm Conservatoire in Conspiracy.The Dutch Elm Conservatoire performed their last live show Prison at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Belfast theatre festival in November 2006.

His television credits include; Vine in two series of Hyperdrive (BBC Two), Nighty Night (BBC Two). Several appearances in My Family (BBC One) and Holby City (BBC One). Also Fear of Fanny by Brian Fillis, directed by Coky Giedroyc for (BBC Four), and sketch show No Signal for (Sky). Most recently The Green Green Grass by John Sullivan (BBC One).

Theatre credits include; A 24hr play The Warp with the late director/performer Ken Campbell (1941-08). Also Stephen wrote and performed alongside Renton Skinner and Neil Edmond in a sketch troupe called The Benders (2000—02). Recent theatre credits include a play called Coffee, and as performer/director Colin Hoult's Carnival of Monsters both at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Stephen is currently directing and performing in Colin Hoult's Enemy Of The World for the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Film includes; Dust, Spivs, Shooters. He appeared in an adaptation of the novel The Dark Is Rising (The Seeker) by Susan Cooper for Twentieth Century Fox. He also featured in three short films by actor and writer Tim Plester Antmuzak, Blakes Junction 7 and World of Wrestling.

He has also written for shows such as Revolver and Velvet Soup for BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 1's late night comedy The Milk Run.

He has recently featured in four short films. Curtains was written and directed by Julian Barratt and Dan Jemmett (Warp Films).Trimming the Fat written and directed by Matt Huntley for BBC Films/Idiotlamp Productions, Cut & Paste by Renton Skinner and Rufus Jones (Motion Picture House) and The Savage Canvas directed by Tim Hope for (Passion Films).

Stephen has recently appeared in a television pilot for Baby Cow productions called Lizzie & Sarah with Jessica Hynes and Julia Davis and the BBC Childrens show Hotel Trubble.Currently Stephen is working with writer/performer Colin Hoult towards a show for the 2010 Edindburgh fringe festival, Enemy of the World. He directs, performs and writes the musical arrangements for the show.
