A book about wartime battle for survival set in Naples in September 1943 when the city has been evacuated and the German army is marching towards Naples.
Naples 1943. All the residents have fled leaving only a couple hundred children. The Germans are heading to town to destroy the city knowing they can't win the war. One American soldier along with a drunk and the kids decide to go to war with the Nazi's. Warfare is a little unrealistic but interesting>

Awesome read! Carcaterra wrote another winner! My husband and I both love his books.
Good story but very unrealistic situations. Instead of a novel it reads like a fantasy with characters having philosophical discussions in the middle of a battle. A bunch of boys, surrounded by Nazis in tanks! Guess who wins with few, if any, casualties?

fast paced bit graphic ending was not that great.
