If you love the series of books about the shops on Blossom Street, then you will also love this one. The lead character is a wife, mom of almost grown kids, and daughter to a mom who is showing her age. She starts thinking of the what ifs in her life when she has to go home to move mom to an assisted living home. There is a bit of mystery and some romance, but mostly it is about finding yourself again once the kids are not taking all your time, and finding that guy you used to love that you are still married to. I loved it.

Thsi book was a very easy read that had you guessing throughout, but not really in a mystery-book sort of way. Macomber's writing is very easy to follow, not too embellished, and perfect for when you want a light read. This book is no exception. It is intended to be before Back to Blossom which I am reading next, and ties into Blossom Street/Good Yarn.

As with The Shop on Blossom Street, the characters come to life in this story as well. I could relate to each of the women in this book, even though they had a few years on me. There is a mystery, some romance, and a snotty kid who knows everything. This book certainly kept my interest, as I read it in a day.

This book was a mixture of a mild suspense with some romance. I enjoyed it very much. No explicit sexual parts, just a good, clean easy reading story. I had a hard time putting this book down. I would recommend it for sure!

I could not put this book down! This author has become one of my absolute favorites; discovered her through her book "Shop On Blossom Street", which is another fabulous work. She often writes books in a series.
This book, Susannah's Garden, has such rich character development in all of its characters. Not just the "main" character, either. You feel like you're a part of each of their lives. And there are some unexpected surprises that will keep you wanting to see what the next chapter brings. Thoroughly enjoyable; can't wait for the sequel!

Though this is book number three in the knitting book series, you don't really know that it is part of this series until the very end. No repeat characters, not the same location, just a quick mention in the very last chapter of buying a flower shop Blossom Street. This book can be read as a stand alone and you wouldn't miss a thing in the series.

Very ejoyable book. Susannah Nelson has to return to her home town, because her mother is no longer able to live by herself. Susannah tries to locate her high school sweetheart, close up her parents home and deal with her head strong daughter.

As usual, Debbie Macomber had me glued to this book until I finished it. Reading one of her "series" books is like watching a mini series or a soap opera. You get glued to it and feel like you know the characters. Can't wait to read more in this series. I have also used some of knitting patterns and recipes from her books.

Wondeful story of the generations. Susannah's mother is becoming less able to care for herself in her family home. Susannah's daughter is finishing her year of college, her boyfriend seems distant, and her future seems bleak. And Susannah's summer off from the classroom doesn't seem adequate to handle everyone's problems - including her own. Why is her ex-boyfriend showing up in her dreams so often? An engaging story by Macomber, as usual. These characters all come to life and their problems matter to you before the story develops much at all. Recommended.

Can you ever go home again? Surprises escalate and make things interesting when Susannah goes home to take care of her mother. She finds out a lot about her family's history and discovers a SURPISE!! Very interesting how this is done. Another Debbie Macomber story of life!

I guess I'm in the minority of the people. I liked it, but didn't love it. I felt it started very slowly. On page 170 I was still deciding whether to keep reading it or not. It was around the middle of the book that I finally started getting into it. It did have a really good and surprising ending.

Her characters seem to mirror her own feelings - and she has a good heart. The story shows a small family in crisis and totally unaware there is an internal problem. Is it dealt with well? Read and find out. Like most of her other books, this one really leaves you feeling that you want to come back for another visit.

While most of Debbie Macomber's books are nice little stories that keep me interested -- this one was just down-right depressing. I didn't like any of the characters. They just seemed so whiney and gutless.
There wasn't much to keep me interested, but I still kept plugging away hoping that it would get better. It never really did. I wanted to shake Susannah's daughter "Chrissy" more than once. Sheesh, how could one character be so whiney and spoiled? Moreover, why would I want to read pages and pages about that character flaw? I wanted to tell Susannah to just let Chrissy make her choices and suffer some consequences. Talk about a self-induldged child!

Susannah's is juggling a frail mother, a young adult daughter, dissatisfation with her life and wondering if her life would be different if her old boyfriend was still in the picture. Also if her brother hadn't died in a car accident......her life is in for some surprising twist and turns and lots of surprises. GOOD READ!

There really wasn't all that much to this book. I felt like Macomber merely skimmed the surface of what could have been a deep and moving story. Instead of exploring the loss of a loved one through psychology, she explains all the misunderstandings of childhood through an implausible series of events and personal connections. There is NO way any of this could happen in real life. If this was a fantasy novel, I could forgive her.
It's not too interesting until the last third of the book, then it's enough to really keep you going. So, it's not a total loss. The main character is fairly well-developed and it shows. Recommended for someone who wants a very, very light read.

Great easy read with a bit of mystery thrown in. I did have to suspend believe a little bit to believe the end but I still really enjoyed the story.

Susannah's Garden had plenty twists and turns that were unexpected. It was a great read. You may want to read this before Debbie Macomber's Back on Blossom Street. You don't have to, but it will help with some background information.
This was a lot better than I thought it would be. There is a mystery that runs throughout the book, which makes it a little different than most of Macomber's other books.

Susannah Nelson finds herself wanting to re-open a past relationship and goes back to her hometown hoping to find out about a high school boyfriend. Situations work out differently than you'd expect. Susannah ends up with a new career that takes her back to Blossom Street as a neighbor of Lydia's shop, "A Good Yarn". A fun read for the summer.

I really enjoyed this installment from Debbie Macomber. A nice way to find out how another character loved before they came to Blossom Street.
The start of a series; the second book is just out in hardback. This is about Susannanh who at 50 begins to wonder about the "road not taken" and her first love. This is the first book I have read by this author and she is a bit too "sweet" for my taste.
Another good read, I just love how the people in the story remind me of anyone in my home town. I really feel at home when I read her stories. THis particular one is about a woman who has to find the answers to questions that have come to haunt her about her past. This has a few twists to the plot and a very easy read!

I enjoyed this book. I feel like it belongs between books 2 and 3 of the Blossom Street kintting series. Debbie Macomber is always enteraining in her story telling.

I could not put this book down. Enough intrigue and romance to keep you turning the pages. I even peeked ahead and read a few lines here and there but it didn"t spoil it for me. I think you will really enjoy this book in the Blossom St series although this one doesn't take place on the street itself.
A married woman with a wandering mind returns to her childhood home to clean out her widow mothers house. Through reconnections with her high school friends a tangled web of cover-ups in discovered and truths are learned.

This is my favorite book so far out of the Blossom street series. It takes you away from Blossom street for a while to learn about some different people. You read about the challenges of taking care of an elderly parent who is losing their ability to take care of themselves but is reluctant to go to a home. This is hard to deal with especially when you have a daughter who shows up and starts running around with a wild boy in town. In going through her mother's things she learns a few secrets as well.

I have just started reading Macomber books. Love them all so far. This is a wonderful story that applies to everyone. Recommend highly.
I enjoyed this book very much, but then again I like all Debbie Macombers books

BOOKLIST I thought it was a very good story, especially since it will lead the reader to a new book called Back On Blossom Street (Macomber has written 2 other books about the knitting store on Blossom Street). I can't wait to read that newest one.
