*** My review for this doesn't go on my blog for another day but I'll go ahead and give the basics here. ***

"Tempted By Fate" was not nearly as interesting as I had expected it to be. It started slow and remained slow through the story with small breaks here and there for a spark of promise to get better. By the time I reached chapter 20 I was ready for it to be over but nope, there are 33 chapters in this. When I had only 7 or so chapters to go before I could toss this into my giveaway pile I just gave in and scanned through the rest of the book to see if what needed to happen happened.

Not a series I plan on following, nor do I plan to go back to book one and reading what I missed.

Not as good as the first one but still a decent read. It had a slow start so it was harder for me to get involved. When Willow actually meets Rick, she had a really annoying persona. She would turn everything they said into a sexual innuendo. It wasnt clever, just juvenile. It stopped after they get together so the last half of the book was less annoying.

I think the side characters were what made this book worthwhile for me. I loved the scene with Ricks grandmother even though she was too much like the Prophecy in the Matrix. Morgan and Weinberg were great characters and I wished more time was spent on them.

Obviously Perry is a Star Wars fan but I thought the Luke, Im your father scenario was taking it a little too far. My favorite parts were when all the guardians get together but there werent enough of those scenes.

Overall, it was an okay book. I wouldnt want to spend a credit on it but I will continue to read the series. Most likely there will be one more book in the series (the guardian of water and the chosen one). You have to like cheesy to enjoy these books.

This was a really good story. I'd kind of gotten burn out on historical romance so I'd left romance alone altogether for a little while. This is the first romance I've read in a few months and it was refreshing to get back into the genre with such a well written specimen.

Willow was a great main character. She was spunky, witty, independent, and everything else you could want from a heroine. I liked her. Ramirez was nice... I used the model on the cover as a basis for what Ramirez looked like, and he is very nice :-) But my favorite character was Morgan and Lita was a close second. But Morgan is a computer genius. While I'm far from a computer genius I am a bit of a nerd so I was able to connect with her. She also plays as Willow's better judgment, as Willow doesn't always use her own good judgment... And Lita was such a sweet character. She was so knowing (beyond just the knowing the comes with being a grandmother) and was able to see what the future was going to hold for Ramirez and Willow.

I haven't read the first two in this series and I didn't feel lost in this one. While I do want to go back and read the first two I didn't feel like I was missing a piece of the puzzle.

The story itself was a good one. Willow, a guardian of the wood scroll, is trying to find the bad man who killed her mother when she was a young girl. The search has lead her to San Fransisco where she meets Ramirez. The chemistry between them is great, even though they both try to fight it.

I liked the story and I loved the characters. I really do want to get the first two in the series and get the background of the guardians and then I want to see where the next book is going to go, as this one set the stage for something really big. I can't wait to see what it is!

This book was a surprise for me. It was enthralling from the beginning. I have rarely found an author that I couldn't completely anticipate what would happen throughout the book. Kate Perry did an exceptional job with this one. It is well written and enjoyable. You can FEEL what Willow or Rick are dealing with throughout their tumultus adventures. Perry did an excellent job of building the characters and divulging just enough information to make you second guess where the end is going. I love how strongly she puts family into the story. I would rate this book a 5/5. I hadn't expected to be very impressed, but this one is definately going on my keeper shelf and I'm going to have to go and see what else this enthralling author has written!
