Compelling story that I found tough to put down; however, I'll agree with other reviewers who've felt that the industry-specific details detracted at times.

This read is a confirmation (as if one is needed) to those who work within the industry . . . that the production end of publishing is unhealthy, unrealistic and unprofitable. I found it interesting that production was managed by both a large corporation and entrepreneurs at different points in time and both failed. Inflexibility in an existing work force and inexperience in management are a sure-fire recipe for failure. Use this book to learn from the mistakes of others when embarking on a new venture that will ask you to put up all of your assets as collateral. DR
