Following up the mega-hit (well, it was REALLY popular with cozy mystery lovers--won a prize) Murder with Peacocks, here we find our lovable, sensible Meg Lanslow again surrounded by her weird but nice family. We learn about puffins (another type of bird native to Maine, apparently) while Meg and lover Michael try to solve a murder on a small resort island. Surely her dad didn't do it!
This one is probably the second weakest in the series (after Parrots), but it's well worth reading to keep up to date on Meg, Michael, and the other zanies in her family.
If you haven't read this series, get Murder with Peacocks, read it, then gather up the rest of the series and have a great time. I envy you the pleasure of discovering these wonderful books.

Great book - I have all of her books in this series and they are my "go-to" books when I need a pick me up. Donna Andrews sense of humor is fantastic, just up my alley.

Second in series, very amusing mystery follow-up to first book, with all the same gang back, including heroine Meg's wacky family.

Poor Meg Langslow has the week end from Hell when she and her SO go to Monhegan Island to get away from it all. A hurricane hits and to complicate things a murder occurs and there is no way to get help until the storm passes.

Second in the series and as wacky and fun as the first. I really like the character of Meg. she's strong, daring, smart and funny. Her budding romance with Michael plays well, as does her relationships with her wacky family. A decent mystery that's lots of fun.

The 2nd Meg Langslow murder mystery - Meg and new boyfriend, Michael, take to the water to get away from her family for a "quiet" romantic weekend in Maine. Turns out that her family has decided to use the secluded cabin themselves and surprise Meg and Michael. In the meantime, the island plays host to a flock of birdwatchers and, lo and behold, a murder of an unsavory neighbor takes place. The books recounts all the ways Meg and Michael try to solve the murder along with her dad, who goes missing for a few days and is considered to be a likely suspect.
I enjoyed this book, but now that I know the antics of Meg's family, it wasn't quite as funny as the first one. But still, a fun read!

This series is a delightful read! If you like the zaniness of Janet Evanovich, check this out. The heroine, Meg, seems to be th only sane one in her eccentric family...who follow her with mystery and mayhem.

Meg plans a romantic getaway with her boyfriend in her aunt's cabin, on an island off the coast of Maine. But when they get there, her family is there. And the island is crowded with birdwatchers. (It's the "flyover" season. Then a body is found and Meg's father is accused of murder.
