Stories are short paragraphs, not enough details.

This was a bit of a hard read. Got thru it, finally. Too many characters, many with multiple names, hard to keep straight.

Well, typical Sheldon, a pager turner. Two problems though...again, typical Sheldon...ENOUGH W/THE WORD DARLING! Ugh, really?? And come on, if your husband is killed by his boss are you really dumb enough to trust ANYONE in the company? STOP calling other employees when the boss is out to kill you!!!
O.K., it was a good read all in all.

Australian Shepherd: A Comprehensive Guide to Owning and Caring for Your Dog (Kennel Club Dog Breed Series)
Review Date: 6/11/2008

Very vague. Only really talks about getting pups from breeders. What about shelters, rescues, second hand? What about a bit on telling people why NOT to buy from pet stores? Diet section pointless..."do what the vet says"...bad advice for the most part. Some nice pics and general history of the breed, that's about it.
Also, doesn't mention the very important subject of Lethal Whites which needs to be addressed so people can be educated about this very sad state of affairs.

Australian Shepherds: Everything About Purchase, Care, Nutrition, Behavior, and Training (Complete Pet Owner's Manual)
Review Date: 6/19/2008

One of the better Aussie books out there. Brings up the topic of Lethal Whites and why to avoid breeders putting out these pups. However, it goes on to say to avoid L.W. Lethals in rescue need homes too.
As always, chapter on food is vague and pointless.

Overall, a good, quick read. Ending was a little rushed. Also, one character seemed to not fit w/the whole story line (could have probably evolved into her own book though). Her part seemed pointless to the story and w/out her, he could have not rushed the ending.

This book is worth it for the pictures alone. However, the majority of this book is geared towards aviary birds, rather than a pet situation. Author has some sort of "issue" w/adopting adult birds. I can say w/experience that adopting an adult is easier than adopting a young bird! Also, author seems to think anyone can and should be breeding 'Toos. Considering they are one of the most abused and abandoned big parrots, breeding is NOT an option if you truly love birds. And do NOT follow the wing clipping advice! NEVER trim only one wing...this is very old, very out dated information and can lead to injury w/your bird.

Birdkeeper's Guide to Parrots and Macaws

Just a funny look back on the way things used to be. Don't use as actual reference guide for care.

Boomerang - A Miracle Trilogy: The Tale of a Remarkable Boston Terrier
Review Date: 7/12/2013

A great disappointment. Writer does not write well, repeats herself again and again and again. Badly written, hippy dippy story, don't waste your time.

I was really prepared to like this lady. However, I found her to be a complete weenee. She fretted around w/the first dog she found, not willing to help it herself, HAD to have help...in the meantime, the dog suffers even more. And another time, she stands by and does nothing while a dog is killed in front of her. She wants to take all the glory, but most of this stuff she does, she always has to have help.

I am a serious King fan, LOVE his work. Was not thrilled the first time I read this. The second time, it got better. So, if you didn't like it, give it a few years and read it again. If you're going by the movie only, this was one of the better adaptations of his work, but still, nothing compares to the real thing.

A nice little "quick read" thriller. A little predictable towards the end, but good all the same.

Cockatoos Complete Owner's Manual
Review Date: 12/27/2006

Book was o.k., some outdated info. Do NOT think breeding a 'Too is something easy that anyone can and should do. 'Toos are one of the most abused and abandoned of the large parrots and there are enough in shelters. And, you will loose any pet qualities they will have. This book does very briefly mention why you shouldn't breed, then goes on to tell you how. Also, it mentions if you want to add a second 'Too to your home, you should get opposite sex and same type of the one you already have...that is just asking for trouble in a pet situation. This book is probably not good for someone just starting out w/'Toos as it gives a lot of false information, but is a little funny for those who know what they're doing.
