I like the triviality of the beginning of the book. I found myself asking, what is the point? But when the "point" finally hit me, it hit me all the harder. The childlike storytelling is in extreme contrast to the actual subject matter, and the fact that it takes Henry a while to "get it" as well is a wonderful representation of how the world "chose" to not get it either. This book is a MUST READ!!

I enjoyed reading this book, and I admire Mr. Ralston's fortitude. I hope that should I be faced with a situation like that, I would have the same courage that he displayed in self rescue.

However. I do not laud his practices in outdoor avocations. I have been an outdoor enthusiast for many, many years, and would never dream of going into the desert so ill prepared. His narcissistic tales of adventure reek of recklessness, ill-preparedness and a case of extreme good fortune. I am surprised that he hadnt found himself in predicament much sooner, and can only hope that he has LEARNED a valuable and weighty lesson for when he ventures out in the future.

Not bad: Very "Great Gatsby-ish", but lacking a structured story line. Character development is full and deeply engaging, but the story lacks a build up and a climax - unless you want to call the opening of the truck the climax; if that is the case, the exploration of how that affects Viva is shallow and disappointing, as if the author just tried to hurry and finish the book. Worth a read, but don't expect any earth shuddering revelations.

The first lines of this book are: "First, I am not a doctor. I am a person interested in fibromyalgia". So one shouldn't be surprised that the book is NOT written very well nor is it remotely near expert, sound advice. It is written by a "person interested in fibromyalgia", who maybe did research, but most likely not and is writing the book for either idiots or 2 year olds. The book has mildly interesting points, but cannot be taken seriously and, in fact, glosses over some SERIOUSLY dangerous practices of mixing medications!!! Pass this book up and get one WRITTEN BY A DOCTOR or a FIBROMYLAGIA EXPERT!!!. After-all, would you have open heart surgery done by a guy who is "interested in the subject" or by an educated, certified and tested heart surgeon? Just saying......

Incredible - the story draws you deeply into the characters' lives; Told from the perspective of one woman, alternating between young child and older woman, Harris infuses every line with the emotion, fear, anger and confusion of a girl comming of age during a dangerous time.

Incredibly disappointing. The whole book is a collection of 2-3 page life stories: how do you sum up one's life in 2-3 pages? A very small portion of each story is dedicated to the individuals' war careers/accomplishments and the rest runs on like an obituary or an âabout meâ portion of an introduction speech. I never got a full picture of who the individual was and HOW he/she shaped America. Fewer featured people and more time spent on each one is needed⦠I couldn't even read the entire book, it was so boring.

Not a bad book - I really appreciate something new. Meyer takes a sci-fi subject and creats a heart-felt tale. That being said, the self-sacraficial melodrama does get old quick, but it does not detract from the story too much. I enjoyed this book MUCH more than the Twilight series!

HILARIOUS! Bill Bryson is, truely, the best best author of humor writing on the market!! Having been to Australia twice myself, I found many of the tales outrageously funny from exerience! Be assured that if Bill Bryson wrote it, you will laugh your funny bone off!

Truely aweful. The shark only makes an apperance a handful of times, and is a side story to a failing romance. Watch the movie and leave the book on the shelf.
