The first in the Easy Rawlins mystery series. We are introduced to the main character as he enters into his first detective "job." He comes out of it less than "squeaky-clean." I had a hard time liking this fellow, until about the third book. Now I'm getting ready to read Black Betty, and looking forward to it.

The second book in the Easy Rawlins series. The story takes place five years after the ending of the book "Devil in a Blue Dress." Mosley brings together his dysfunctional group of characters to solve murder and mayhem somehow tied in with the Communist Red Scare of the 1950's.

Without a doubt, one of the worst books I've ever read.

I enjoyed the chaotic mess Mr. Sanders created with this unusual crime. It was a hoot! Fun reading.
