From Africa to South America, the author takes the reader into many days in the life a wildlife veterinarin. Part travelogue, part insight into life in remote locations on earth, this highly readable memoir gets into the nitty gritty of wildlife veterinary medicine and conservation projects. Very detailed, informative and exciting (including such pearls of wisdom as "never run from a charging elephant", then the author finds himself having to test this theory).
Gives an insight also into why some well-intentioned conservation and third world development projects fail and produce the opposite of their intended goals. Plus an if-it-wasn't-real-it-would-be-funny experience with third world customs; read legalized extortion.

A well written Christian mystery. Some aspects of the plot seemed a bit convenient, but the plot moves along well. Good character development. An enjoyable read.

Well researched and highly readable. Dick Morris, former politcal advisor to Bill Clinton, and Attorney Eileen McGann use logic backed up by statistics to spotlight concerns about the financial bailouts, health care reform, the war on terror and how privileged insiders and special interests can or are changing America. Chapter titles like "Obama's War on Prosperity', "The United States Sends Aid to Hamas" and "Stealth Lobbyists: The Former Congressional Leaders Who Secretly Influence Federal Policies and Spending" are self explanatory and informative.
I didn't give it 5 stars because the read seems at times to dip into a conservative rant and speculation. Overall, however, the facts are presented and the case for concern is made on a number of important issues. Best of all, as opposed to other books, this one gives action agendas for each problem on what we, the people, can do about them.

Great story, great character. Everything I have read on writing or creating characters rings true for Alex McKnight. Give them flaws, send them up a tree and then throw rocks at them. A new unique character that Mr. Hamilton created I'll be looking to read more of the series.
Love the setting, which is a character unto itself. Getting cliche to have a retired PI in LA or NY or Chicago. G

Well written account of the start of the space program by one who was there. Mr. Kranz casts an intimate eye on the events that shaped the beginning of man's exploration of space and what it was like to watch in all happen from the control room.

A great read. Mr. Hurwitz captures the flavor of a book that I wanted to write. A chilling page turner that makes you wonder, in this technological age, if there really is any such thing as privacy. Just don't fall in the bad graces of the wrong people.
