Good first fiction novel. Flowed well, and kept interest. Good book for someone interested in the action/adventure genre. Follow up novel, "White," was also enjoyable.

I have enjoyed many of Rollins' books before, but was glad when he started writing the Sigma Force books. I like "watching" the characters develop, and Rollins has a great group of main characters in Sigma Force. Now in the third book, they start hitting their stride together.
As with most of Rollins' books there's always a little historical fiction mixed with a hint of the "supernatural" in addition to some pretty convincing science.
Also, for those fans of Steve Berry and Brad Thor, there are hints that they all occur in the same universe, as characters from both other series make cameos, although some are more subtle than others, love it!

Honestly, I read this book because I'm a fan of Meltzer's comic book writing. I know, base reading a novel with thousands of words because you like a writer who pens a couple hundred (if that) in a comic book.
The book wasn't bad, although I think my luke warm feeling towards this book is based off of my expectations. I expected a little more "action" out of what I considered a action/adventure genre book... it turns out it was a little more cerebral than that, which is okay.
There were plenty of plot twists and turns, and it definitely kept my interest.
If you like David Baldacci, John Grisham, James Patterson, or Michael Connelly, then you'll probably like this book...

A decent first book... how can you go wrong, based off the cover; a swastika overlaying a Mycenaean death mask.
The book flowed alright, and the story was interesting enough. I guess it was just missing a little something... a little extra that could have made it really great. It didn't have some of the finishing power of some of the other books in its historical fiction/action-adventure genre.

Good first book. It doesn't have some of the action that others in the historical fiction/ action-adventure genre do, but were it lack in that it makes up in others. The authors take what could have been a very dull plot and invigorated with a sense of something that made it authentic. Their writing allowed you to grow with the characters and allowed you to generally care about them. In the end, it was a little of everything; an interesting object, a buddy story, a mystery wrapped a round a little coming of age story.

I guess I was a little disappointed in Khoury's follow up novel to "The Last Templar." Others may really like it, but it never really did it for me. The book read alright, and kept my interest, but It didn't seem to have the same "stuff" as his first book. No, their not supposed to be related, and I knew this going in, so I can't really put my finger on any one thing that caused me to feel the way I did. There were just little things here and there, and I guess I was a left a little wanting at the end.
Having said all this, I finished it, and never considered not... in fact I'm looking forward to reading his next novel, so... use this review, or don't... in the end it's just an opinion.
