Baby 411 : Clear Answers and Smart Advice for Your Baby's First Year
Review Date: 12/28/2008

This is the must-have book for parents--especially new parents. I went nowhere without it--it was extremely helpful. It especially helps to calm your nerves when you think something is going on with your baby..it gives helpful guidelines on what is important, what to worry about, and when to call the doctor. It covers everything that a parent would need to know. I've given several for gifts to new moms because I know that I couldn't have functioned without it. I even have continued to use it for my second child, and it is my first reference about everything when I have a question. You don't need any other baby books except this one--really.

This is the synopsis from the back cover "After the massacre, Hardy and Betty Sue were left with only a horse and a knife with which to face the long battle against the wilderness. A seven-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, stranded on the limitless prairie. They were up against starvation, marauding Indians, savage outlaws and wild animals. They were mighty stubborn, but the odds were against them--and their luck was about to run out."

Longarm and the Grand Slam Heist (Longarm, No 209)
Review Date: 8/24/2007

From the back cover: "Longarm wasn't the kind of guy who liked to play by the rules. Especially the rules of baseball, a sissy game if he ever saw one. But someone is following a traveling baseball team around the country--and robbing local post offices while the townspeople are watching the game. The only way Longarm can investigate without looking like a lawman is by looking like a baseball player--and playing like one, too. He knows he's good at throwing punches and running roughshod--but is Longarm sharp enough to catch a ball while trying to catch a thief?"

On Becoming Baby Wise: Learn How over 500,000 Babies Were Trained to Sleep Through the Night the Natural Way
Review Date: 9/23/2007

I have never actually read this book because I was warned to stay away. There are very unhealthy suggestions in this book---I must advise to use Baby411 as it is THE golden book for everything a new parent should know. Try that one instead.

Saving Grace: The True Story of a Mother-to-be, a Deranged Attacker, and an Unborn Child
Review Date: 6/29/2007

This is a really fascinating story (which the cover states that it will be on Oprah)--but you have to get past the bad grammar. That is not to say that the book is unreadable; it is just not the most eloquently written book. The story itself is a quick read.

From the back cover: " After years of leading cavalry patrols into hostile territory, Captain Vincent Bolton wasn't about to put up with the bullying tactics of a renegade like Big Jim Congor. But Bolton hadn't reckoned on just how far Congor would go to further his sinister plans. For Congor had dark designs on the frightened town of Socorro--he'd already turned the peaceful saloon into a den of thieves and the respectable hotel into a bordello, and now he had his gun sighted on the defiant Bolton. Soon, as Bolton guides a Spanish dignitary and his lovely daughter on a sacred mission through the stark deserts of New Mexico, Congor will make his move... with blood fire in his eyes, greed in his heart, and hot lead in his six-shooter."

From the back cover: "To the far frontiers of the Pacific Northwest fled the dreamers, like Kate Harrow. But the greatest danger came from the Indian Red Feather and his band of renegade braves, and there was only one man worth a damn in Indian country, only one man who could safely escort Kate's stage: Scott Winslow, former U.S. Deputy Marshal. But unknown to Kate, Winslow's skills were endangered by his relentless vengeance hunt for a burtal killer. And Kate and Scott cannot escape the stalking treachery of Red Feather. For the renegade chief has a secret partner, a man the Indians call Crooked Face: a man who plans to betray his own people and has sworn that all those who hoped to find new lives in Seattle will find only savage death along the trail."

This is a quick synopsis: "Elizabeth Lange has arrived at Cypress Point Spa in Pebble Beach, California, weary of heart and soul. Still grieving for her beloved sister, a famous actress who plunged to her death from her Manhattan penthouse, Elizabeth is determined to unearth the truth about how Leila died. Dashing multimillionaire Ted Winters stands accused of her murder, but Elizabeth has doubts.

Along the windswept cliffs of the Monterey coast, in luxurious bungalows, between gourmet meals and beachfront walks, uneasiness stalks Elizabeth while she begins opening doors to the past. As glimpses of the dark truth about Leila's life and death -- and about Elizabeth herself -- start to crash against her mind, an ominous wave from an unexpected source threatens to engulf her entirely."
