Chosen but Free: A Balanced View of Divine Election

This author of this book makes the claim that he can walk the middle ground between Divine Sovereignty over man in all things, man's total depravity, and what he sees as man's freedom from God to choose God unto salvation. What are we free from? Free from God's sovereign election? Free from God? This position is a contradiction. In other words "Can God make a rock big enough he can't pick it up?"

This remains a synergistic relationship to God and nothing but Arminianism in disguise. --We do not deserve to be saved, but God has mercy on whom he has mercy, and who are we to talk back to God?

A book about personal dignity. Not overtly Biblical in writing but with the flavor or Sproul's early writings; a mixture of philosophy and practical application plus personal story. This is not one of Sproul's best writings. He's gotten better with age.

The short stories of Stephen Crane are among the most prized in American Literature, admired for their terse, vivid prose style and hard edged realism in depicting characters of the milieu.

This story is based on the sinking of the Cuban bound steamer Commodore (1897) on which Crane was a passenger.

An excellent read! When I read the book I almost felt that the planet Lewis talks about is out there. It seems very real and logical that this planet or some planet with similar characteristics could in fact exist.

Well worth the time to read the book.

The Red Pony is the story of a boy who dreamed great dreams, of the sorrel colt that was the focus of those dreams, of the land that nourished them, of the mountains that hid their fulfillment. Steinbeck's early masterpiece reveals his profound love of many things -children and their wondrous imaginings, mountains, animals, people - and the land. The Red Pony is one of Steinbeck's most beloved books. It will be treasured for generation. (Taken from back cover of book)

Probably the most classic love story of all time between and man and a woman.

"...I have more cause than to stay than to go.
Come death and welcome. Juliet wills it so.
How is 't, my soul? Lets talk. It is not day."
