Five stars -- There's just not enough books out there like this one! Each page simply features a large photograph of a child in motion, with an accompanying phrase. The only downside is the backgrounds are pretty simple, with grass, trees, sand, snow, and the like, so my 2 year old can't work on city-related vocabulary with this book... although that does give the book a sort of timeless quality.

Carol Berg is a master of the Reveal. She walks you through the mystery until the villain is exposed well before the end of the book. What she does best, that I have not encountered very often, is misdirecting the reader until you don't even know what will be the Great Reveal, but it will steal your breath away and give you chills. It's never something simple, such as the who or why, but something that seems entirely unrelated until the very end, when everything comes together.

Wish all popups were as indestructible as this one. I've had to put *my* favorite popups up high so that my 2 year old doesn't destroy them when I turn my back on her. This one gets to stay out on the floor for her to read whenever she wants!

I replaced the skunk scratch-n-sniff sticker (which was dead on the used copy I got through PBS) with a smell awareness sticker I got from the gas company.
