John Putnam Thatcher is at his best in this mystery about big business and the church against a local community group trying to save their school. As usual greed and murder go hand in hand.

The first Inspector Wexford. You can't beat Ruth Rendell for bringing shivers and chills. In every book no one is exactly what they seem.

This was a Weekly Reader Book Club book from the 60's. One of my favorites which I read many times. I reread it recently and felt it was just as good as I remembered it. It may be dated by the fact that all the adult males smoke but if you want a great boy and his dog book this is a winner.

Dorothy Sayers worked in an advertising agency after she graduated from Oxford. She new first hand how they operated and that is one reason why this book is so true to life. One of her best books.

You can't go wrong with Emma Lathen and John Putnam Thatcher. They were written a long time ago but human nature and business don't change much. There may not have been much technology yet but greed, conceit and dishonesty keep Mr. Thatcher busy.

I reread a paperback copy of this so much I wore it out. Georgette Heyer is a fantastic writer. So entertaining and fun.

Weekly Reader Book Club book from the 1960's. It was one that I read many times. Great story and great lessons on WWII and the Holocaust.
