I could not put this book down. If I did not need to sleep or keep a job I would never have stopped reading this book. The story grips you from page one and you finish looking at the last page thinking ... I Need to have more!!! I do not want to live in that country as describes, but sometimes I feel for just a moment we are headed that way. God save us from that. The story is fast paced and very riveting. I know this is number 5 in the publish order, but sure reads like it should be number 1.

My first Lincoln Child book, but will not be my last. The plot does not get bogged down and flows very well. Almost unexpected ending, but still a suprise. A good book to lose yourself into.

Death of an Assassin is a very interesting and outstanding book. Ann Marie Ackermann has discovered and presented a small bit of history that shows how each of us can affect another person for both good or bad. Through a lot of research, the author shows how one man changed the life and future of a village and its people as well as the lives and people of a nation on the other side of the world. The information on the forensic ballistics was very interesting. We sometimes think our ancestors were not too smart because they did not know things like we do, but I believe that is an error in our understanding of the past.
This book is well written and was a joy to read. I wanted to jump forward and find out who the assassin was, but Ms. Ackermann presented him at the right time to keep the story flowing. I was happy to learn how immigration worked in the 1830's. I did not know that some countries required you to give up your citizenship before you arrived in the United States. So, if I understand it correctly, during the voyage all the immigrants were "stateless". This book was full of very interesting information that I did not know. To me it is a sign of an outstanding book if I learn from it.
I recommend this book for all who are interested in learning how anyone can touch another and possibly change the world.

As always a great read, starts everything. A nice book to get lost in for a few hours a day. Would recomend to everyone to read at least once in their life.

I like a well written mystery. This is one of them. A good mystery story will drop clues along the way about who did it and such, but when you read them you don't know they are clues until the end. After reaching then end I looked back and realized that Mrs. Thompson left us the clues all along. Well done!

I am a fan of the Military Sci-Fi. The book is a good edition to that field. I found the story flowed well from start to finish. The time the author spent on combat time was just the right amount to keep me going with the story. I feel you need to see the human side of the characters, not just the blow them up side. I felt the balance was good. I had a hard time putting this book down. I look forward to the next in the series. I recommend this book to all.
