Innocence (Scott Finn, Bk 2) (Audio CD) (Unabridged)
Review Date: 9/22/2009

Innocence is my first David Hosp book. I had no expectations beyond a good story, and I confess to being easily entertained. However, I'm glad I was listening and not reading since I would have had to put off daily needs to find out what was going to happen next in this book. Boston criminal lawyer, ex-cop investigator and rich-mouthed law student/office support woman combine to provide engaging characters, lovely twists, and paths that do not lead you where you think you are going, kept my attention on the story to the very end.

I loved the description of the main character's love of horses, but many items (cattle tripping?) were not believable.

Annemarie hurls herself through life, retreating and attacking without a single retrospective assessment of her situation.

With this quixotic decision making and shrieking when something happened that she didn't like, I really wanted to shake this immature, egotistical and emotion-driven main character many times and tell her to grow. She didn't.

This was a terrific listen. The story is not your average cop tale written to impress, but a believable tale of a man trying to do his best with honor within a system of rules, regulations, and repercussions sometimes beyond his control.

It's not a true story, but it is very believable and very well read by Bobby Cannavale of Third Watch fame.

I wasn't expecting much of this book, just an engaging and entertaining story. Wow! The author takes you on a first row seating to a train wreck that seems to never stop. Just when you think things will clear up, another piece of the train falls over. I had the unabridged audio version and once I got into the story I couldn't wait to get back in my car to hear what would happen next.

Great read or listen!
