I don't like giving bad reviews, but this book is terrible in my humble opinion. I couldn't get past the first 50 or so pages.

The Great Philosophers: The Lives and Ideas of History's Greatest Thinkers
Review Date: 6/1/2011

Very good and well done. It doesn't cover all the philosophers, but what book could. He states in the preface that the philosophers he chose to write about were his personal favorites - disclosure up front! What more you could you ask for.

Unfortunately this book describes the authors trip where he travels over the route Hannibal took and describes the country on a then & now basis. You do get the history of Hannibal, but it is so fragmented by the trip descriptions that it was not interesting to me. You could almost describe this book as a 'Travel' book.

I loved everything she wrote up to this volume. It was just too slow and not up to her usual standards.
