" This unforgettable novel of intrigue, passion, and divided loyalties sweeps from the back streets of New Orleans to the high gloss of New York to the inner sanctums of the Vatican. And laid bare are all the sins the flesh is heir to, and all the longings that can lift the heart as high as heaven-or break it in pieces."
