All the Philippa Carr books follow the women of one family. Each book is a different generation, and though the characters are fictional, the backdrop and events they experience are historical.

These books are my favorites of all the Victoria Holt titless

Interesting living through the history of Wisconsin through the generations of one farm and it's family

I didn't read much of it. Once I saw "12 steps" and putting your trust in god as a way to let go of control, I knew it wouldn't work for me!

Crofters and Habitants: Settler Society, Economy, and Culture in a Quebec Township, 1848-1881 (Studies on the History of Quebec)

I had a genealogical interest in this book, having Scottish ancestors who settled in the Eastern Townships, however this is a very scholarly work, probably more of interest to college students or researchers than casual readers.

Dangerously Funny: The Uncensored Story of 'The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour'
Review Date: 1/9/2013
Helpful Score: 1

I loved their show when I was young, always wondered "what happened" when they were cancelled. This gives you the story of the political network games...hard to believe now what was controversial back then!
My only criticism would be that it may be too full of minutia for anyone not an avid fan.

An interesting tale, but one very adult and disturbing scene is integral to the story. Overall we liked the book.

Lots of good quotes and insight, but probably could have been done in about half as many pages.

This is not Dan Brown's best work. You should read it only if you're a Dan Brown fan, and want to say you've read them all.

I ordered this book because it was one of my childhood favorites, and it's still a fun read.
Kids today might have trouble relating to some of the "technology" these kids used in the early 60's, but I think the stories will still entertain. I want to pass it on to my nephew who's a budding engineer.

Good story kept you guessing what would happen, could relate to the characters who were multi-faceted, and it drew me in fairly quickly.
I enjoy period pieces and live in Wisconsin, so this was interesting to me. On the downside, there seemed to be an awful lot happening in only 6 months or so, and there were several things that were only explained as "such things happen" due to the long Wisconsin winters, which I happen to like, but I'm sure it was worse back then!

I read this first as a teenager, then discovered it is part of a series which I have now read all of.

This book is set in the time of Cromwell
These books are my favorites of all the Victoria Holt titles

A fictional drama set against the time of Henry III, and his brother Richard, the Earl of Cornwall. Quite a lot of historical data to keep the Anglophiles content, with a good bit of war, treachery, and romance against impossible odds.

I was expecting the usual "chick book" for a light read, but it sent me to Google and my reference books a few times, and I have read quite a lot of historical novels.

Solid characters with their own flaws, and a handsome villian, all gripped me more than I would have thought from the "typical" cover art!
