Juggle the love lives of Tia, Maria, Elizabeth, and Jade and what do you get? An odd mix. Liz and Tia aren't supposed to have Valentines, yet someone is working up the courage to ask Liz out [and no, you have to wait until the next book to find out who it is] and Tia keeps getting stuff, supposedly from Trent. Maria and Ken agreed not to go over the top, but wacky hijinks ensue, which leads us to Jade and Evan. Evan's still torn up over his parents and their split, so he doesn't do anything for Jade, even when it's obvious to anyone with half a brain cell that she'd like something done.
Bits are cute, bits cut too deep if you've had a really bad Valentines, and if you like seeing Melissa and Will do horrible things to one another, you really can't miss.

Double Love introduces you to the world of the Wakefield twins and Sweet Valley. Things may change as the series progresses, but you learn right from the start that Jess is the outgoing scheming twin and Liz is the quiet scheming twin. Jess makes a play for Todd Wilkins while Liz nurses a huge crush on him at the same time.

The Secret Diaries offer further insight into what happened behind the scenes during a certain period of time in the SVH series. They usually involve one twin dating the other's boyfriend. Elizabeth's third diary covers SVH #71-82 and features Sam Woodruff as the boy in question.

Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield finally turn seventeen. Each twin tries to surprise the other with the best party they can think of, and it's up to their friends to keep their plans from ruining the big day. Unfortunately an earthquake hits at the worst possible time and it's the beginning of the end for the SVH series. Characters change and more than a few will die.

SVH in general has never been subtle. If Robin is chubby, it's because they can't let her appear in a scene without food or the mention of food. However, she does get one of the few actual character overhauls in the series, and I'm not just talking physical.
Also, the earlier SVH books seem to rejoice in making Jessica particularly cruel and nasty, and this one is no exception.

The SVH gang ends up going into the desert for a survival course. Naturally, it being Sweet Valley, there's a treasure map complete with real gold and murderers behind every corner. When greed gets to be too much for the gang, watch as everything goes insane. Book one of two.

The SV Cheerleader trilogy is classic. Jessica creates her own squad, cons Elizabeth into joining it, and goes on to stomp all over her old squad.
