This is actually more of a detective story in a fantasy setting but it's a well crafted story and a good read as well.

I lover her books but this one was just to involved in creating a culture and didn't spend enough time telling a story.

Dissolution (Forgotten Realms: R.A. Salvatore's War of the Spider Queen, Book 1)

It's a good story but all the characters are essentially evil. The protagonist has simply been a little more fortunate at it. I have trouble accepting the premise I guess. It was ok and I'd read the sequel if someone gave it to me but I wouldn't buy it.

I don't think Silverberg is capable of writing a book that's less than excellent. I found this one to be an enjoyable read.

This series was Terry's first and some of the characters bear striking resemblances to characters in Tolkien's ring trilogy (confirming that Terry was heavily influenced by Tolkien) but they are nevertheless well written, rousing and entertaining books.

Wanting a Child: Twenty-Two Writers on their Difficult But Mostly Successful Quests for Parenthood in a High-Tech Age
Review Date: 10/7/2008

To be honest, I didn't request this book. PBS said I requested it at a time when I was looking for books written by William Saroyan and, because it was an anthology, I assumed it had one of his stories in it and that I'd just forgotten having requested it so I didn't say anything. I'm a confirmed, avid and exclusive reader of Fantasy and Science Fiction but, at a time when I had nothing else to read, I read the first story in this book and was instantly, hopelessly hooked. I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it and then my wife read it. We both loved it. This is a wonderful book. I'd rate it as totally unsuitable for immature, narrow minded people but any open minded, genuine adult is going to love it.
