I got this to give to a male friend and he LOVES it! I did look at the organization and a few of the recipes and they look solid and interesting. This is not a cute book that condescends to inexperienced cooks; it is a real help.

This is a book of photographs (Polaroids) in color, with wonderful quotes from a wide variety of artists, each for a specific photo. I originally got this book to use the photos in collages (which YOU may do, of course), but decided the images are too lovely to cut up! The paper they are printed on is very heavy, cream-colored rag vellum, suitable for framing.

Knowing the author as I do, I'm not surprised that this, her first novel, has been receiving critical acclaim and nominations for a variety of awards. She has the ability to speak the language of early teens, and to walk into their world, using mystery and reverence for the earth and its creatures as the backdrop for a great story.

The Professor And The Madman: A Tale Of Murder, Insanity, And The Making Of The Oxford English Dictionary
Review Date: 12/6/2014

Fascinating and detailed account of the devotion thousands of word-lovers in the creation of the OED, the grand keeper of the English language, as told through the work and life of one contributor, imprisoned for life for murder. I've read it twice and will read it again.

Nice little "bible". My gardening friends all recommend it.

Rebecca is a psychological thriller without sloppy love scenes and no bloody crimes, but the drama is superb. Also a must is the 1940 Alfred Hitchcock movie of the same name, starring Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine, and Judith Anderson as the housekeeper.

If you are looking for current fashions to knit, this isn't the book; the styles, although classic, are a tad dated, but that's to be expected! However, as all Vogue Knitting books, this is well-designed and the styles ARE classic good designs, the directions are very carefully edited. I like having this type of book in my library to use as general reference when designing a knit project.
