Fifty small but very nice designs in cross stitch -- wish I had the time and discipline to stitch them myself!

More like a big leaflet than a book, it has some facts/statistics about the American Civil War, but mostly it contains photographs from the actual war and illustrations of the many different uniforms.

The title is "Come, Tell Me How You Live." Somehow it got mangled above. :-P

Coming Down the Mountain: How to Turn Your Retreat into Everyday Living
Review Date: 5/15/2006

This book has a nice reflection, one for each day, for six weeks. I really did not find it to be retreat-related at all, though.

Desire of the Everlasting Hills : The World Before and After Jesus (Hinges of History)
Review Date: 9/9/2005

Very interesting; gives a lot of interesting details. Read it with a grain of salt, however, as the author frequently presents his own opinions as fact.

Felicidad De Mexico
Felicidad De Mexico

Review Date: 6/18/2005

The info above says hardcover, but this is a paperback, 7" by 5", 138 pages. The text of the book is in Spanish, but the beautiful art will be understood by anyone. It was published in 1995 on the occasion of the centenary of the coronation of Our Lady of Guadalupe at the basilica in Mexico City. The book is a collection of paintings of Our Lady (and related Catholic subjects) through history, in different advocations, especially in the Guadalupe one. A lovely book for Catholics and art lovers -- and especially Catholic art lovers! :-)

Small book with party games, but not for kids. Not that the games in it are indecent, they're just not for children.

Games Zen Masters Play: Writings of R. H. Blyth
Review Date: 9/9/2005

published in 1976 by Signet; 169 pages, no illustrations
From the back cover:
"This notable collection of translations and commentaries is designed to bring the Western reader face to face with the experience of Zen. Included in this volume are classic Hsinhsinming, setting forth the basic Zen approach; a gathering of the most famous mundoes, or question-and-answer exchanges, of the great Zen masters; and finally an important selection of koan, or riddle-like queries and incidents, from the Mumonkan, perhaps the most widely used instrument for the teaching of Zen. The result is essential reading for anyone interested in truly understanding one of the world's greatest spiritual and intellectual treasures."
