If you could picture an story that combines the archaeology of Indiana Jones and the wayfaring adventures of Star Trek, this gem from Rovert Silverberg would be it. The characters in the book excavate and extrapolate information for archaeological sites on far away worlds, in an attempt to discover the oldest civilizations in the universe.

When an excavation leads them to discoveries that predate those of the known galaxy, they also discover truths about the beginning and the end of time!

A quick read, and a fascinating combination of the past and the future!

I am not a quick reader, I read for understanding and it usually takes me a while to finish a book. This book was so riveting, I finished in a record time! It was suspenseful and the last several chapters of the book were terrifying! At the same time, as a Christian, this book meant a lot to me because it's content is centered on faith and God and divine providence (without beating you over the head with theology).

I would recommend this book very highly!

This book, an autobiography of Yeager's life, was a fascinating look into the time in our history when the discovery and advancement of military technology, especially jet technology, was a national priority. Individuals during that time who tested new jet technologies were demigods, highly revered for their roles in national military supremacy and for the danger that they accepted as part of their jobs.

Forget that the man was the first to ever break the sound barrier. Read this book because it is a fascinating story about a man and the dangers of his life as he chased a dream that he shared with many!
