Yet another Terry Kay book I had trouble putting down. I began to wonder about why it was titled "The Runaway," but that doubt was resolved by the end of the book, as I expected it would be. The book cover is not accurate, as it depicts two boys running on what appears to be a beach. There is no beach in the book. Just a minor detail which does not take away from the genius of Kay's work.
I almost hesitate to write anything about how much I enjoy reading Terry Kay, for fear his books will be harder to come by on Paperback Swap! But he was recommended to me by another PBS member, and I felt I should pass it along.

I have read four books by Terry Kay, and am now on my fifth. I cannot imagine rating his work anything less than a five--ever.

This was the first time I had read anything by Terry Kay, and when I finished this one I immediately started looking for other books by him. How did I miss knowing about him? Now I wonder if he can write fast enough to satisfy my craving!

I only recently discovered Terry Kay (where have I been?) and I'm on my fourth book right now. The Valley of Light was exactly what I expected from Kay--good writing, perhaps even great. Should I ever write a novel, I would hope it would be as good as this one.

I had just finished "Water from My Heart" by the same author when I ordered this one. I dove (no pun intended) right into it as soon as it arrived. I was not disappointed. Will be looking for more by Charles Martin!
