As an avid Dark Hunter fan (and Acheron in particular), I had been fantasizing about Acheron's story FOREVER! This book did not disappoint at all. As other reviews have stated, the first half is about Acheron's mortal life and is heartbreaking. The second half of the book is present tense, where he meets his heroine. How do you come up with a heroine suitable for a man/god such as Acheron? SK does it nicely! I could not have come up with a better heroine for Acheron (unless it was myself!) than Soteria. She was intelligent, compassionate, and gentle with my beloved Acheron. I also enjoyed the fact that SK made Acheron less imposing and more 'human'. There were times when I laughed out loud (the image of Acheron clumsily falling off a ladder, and landing on his nicely shaped butt! or using his god powers to make his cell phone ring to get out of an uncomfortable situation). Much of Acheron's peculiarities were explained in this book, and I look forward to seeing him appear in future books, to see how his 'happily ever after' continues to play out. The only thing I would have changed was the heroine's rebuttal to Artemis. Not nearly vicious enough for my bloodthirsty nature!! I plan on rereading many of the earlier DH books, now that I know the reasons for much of Acheron's behavior.

This book really grabbed me in the beginning! Whoa! And I loved seeing all the other characters show up. But the actual romance between Jasmine and Adam really falls short. It's like an accident that happens as a side story to the rest of the action. I loved the action, but needed more for their romance. All that happens between them is that Noah pairs them together to hunt foe Ruth, and when we next see them together (almost), they discover they are Imprinted. They decide it is useless to fight the Imprinting, so there, we're done. Period. Hmmmm...could have used a bit more there. But I still love the series and hope it's not done!

In spite of the other reviews, I thought this a good book. I thought the intrigue plot was a bit weak, but liked the story between the hero and heroine. It is a little spicier than your typical historical, but not too much so. Some of the supporting characters now have their own books (Christopher St. John is the hero in A Passion for the Game), and I have enjoyed them as well. Good light read.

This book had a good original story line, and I liked all the alpha guys! Loved some of the secondary characters. Ven is hilarious. I'll be reading the second book just for him! But I wish it had more substance to it. I think it could have been 'fleshed out' a little more, more emotions, more descriptions, more than just the bare necessities to get the story across.

Loved this latest addition to the Outlander series. I felt this book brought the focus back to Jamie and Claire (where I like it). It was full of surprises, some quite shocking! All of it leading up to that fateful newspaper clipping that foretells the death of Jamie and Claire in a house fire. As usual, the beautiful writing brings the back country of North Carolina to life, and the characters live and breathe. Ms. Gabaldon's ability to make you see every tendril of fog and smell the beautiful pine forests amazes me. I have yet to encounter a writer whose stories are so rich with detail without bogging the reader down, and whose characters are brought to life with such depth and sensitivity. None of her characters are two dimensional, even the secondary ones and all of them have flaws as well as heroic traits. This is the best series of books I have ever read, no mistake!

Another great book in the Wild Wulfs series! I really enjoyed this series (the second two better than the first). This book is about Gabriel, the strong silent brother! He is determined to not let 'weakness' overtake him as it has his brothers, and submit to the curse. Then he winds up having to rescue Amelia from some other strange creatures who are hunting her. Enjoy!

I enjoyed this book! Each book in the series seems to be better than the last. Cade is one hot hero! And you have to love a heroine who is a college math instructor that is OCD (I am both, so I could REALLY relate!).

Totally dug this one! Another winner in this series! It's rare that a series can continue on this long without some of the books getting stale. I have seen that happen with some of my favorite paranormal authors. But Kresley Cole keeps them coming and keeps them good!! I love how she can take the same series and make each book different and unique. This one even goes to a different plane/world and has a truly tormented hero. I love how another reviewer compared Malkom and Carrow getting to know each other in a Tarzan/Jane style. Very true! Great book, great hero/heroine, great cameos by other characters (some old, and some 'new' ones getting set up for their book, yaaaay!!). Worth the credit.

Second in the Outlander series and just as excellent as the first! Don't be fooled when you start to read it: you think you are reading them in the wrong order. The opening is a little misleading. But never fear, you are reading the book that comes after Outlander. Hang on and enjoy the ride. Ms. Gabaldon sets it all straight as Jamie and Claire set off to try to keep the massacre at Culloden from happening. Lots of intrigue and fantastic historical insight. Ms. Gabaldon does not disappoint! Beautifully written! This is my favorite series, no mistake!

Funny how I agree with most of the reviews I've read about this book: the good and the bad! Like everyone, I wondered what all the fuss was about. I've read Ellora's Cave and Aphrodesia books, so I wondered what make this book such a big deal. Not the BDSM because that actually plays a small role in actuality. On the bad side, the writing was very middle-school level and there were times (esp in the first book) when Ana was a little annoying. But I couldn't put it down! Yes, the sex was hot, but not overly explicit like you find in the books by EC and Aphrod. Also, in the EC and Aphrod books, you mostly have 50 pages of sex followed by a couple of pages of loose plot, then more sex. Not so here. Yes, there is lots of sex, but it actually has the emotions, feelings, and plot to carry it. And Christian is the ultimate 'hero' that we romance readers love to read about. He's hot, sexy, flawed, alpha, masterful, and did I mention HOT! On that level, he would fit right in with Ward's BDB. However this was brought down to a more realistic (if you can believe that someone so young can amass such an empire) level, and it's the evolution of Christian that takes center stage throughout the three books. Why he is like he is and how Ana gently helps him heal is beautifully woven into the story. By the end of the third book, I didn't even notice the writing style that had annoyed me earlier (most of which probably has to do with the author's journalistic background), and I was very sorry for the books to end. In my opinion, the first book sets up the story, but it's the weakest of the three. I really liked these books, and for a totally different reason than I thought I would when I picked them up!

I always enjoy Laura Kinsale! I particularly like her heroes that are flawed. This partifcular hero is your typical womanizing rake until he has a stroke that affects his speech. Suddenly he's not so popular any more. He also develops a nasty temper in his frustration to communicate and his damaged pride in the man he has turned out to be. In comes a Quaker woman who thoroughly disapproves of his lifestyle. Two very unlikely people come together in a great romance. Especially good is the scene where, after she has left him, he comes into her church service and finally swallows his pride to tell her how he feels, in his halting and very difficult speech that will make you cry as he struggles to communicate his feelings. Ms. Kinsale always delivers the unique romance that touches on some of the more unspeakable elements of our human nature.

Another steamy book from Ms. Schone! This one winds up explaining a lot more than the first book, The Lover. I loved these books but they are not for everyone. The author delves into the more earthy and physical side of love and desire. Her sex scenes are not necessarily vulgar (she doesn't use words that I would rather not read), as I have said before, but she does explore the physical bonds more deeply than other smut books. Also, many people may find her writing style, in general, hard to read. Many of her sentences are cryptic and you feel as though there are too many hidden meanings in every sentence, most of which you don't get. It's like coming in at the second act and you have no idea what the people are talking about. The plot was very twisty and it wasn't until the end of this second book that several things made sense and came together for me. However, if you can stick with it, I believe these books are pretty good. I like unusual stories and the bond between the heroes in these two books is definately and unusual one (no, don't go there...quite). Enjoy!

I was only mildly impressed with the first book in this series, but I decided to give the second one a try. LOVED IT! Gideon was a great hero, especially if you like your men very reserved and controlled, then watch them unravel! I never could understand how Legna could acknowledge the Imprinting, yet put off sleeping with him. Made for some great tension in the story, though! Great scene where she forces through Gideon's emotional barriers and he snaps.
For all you Sherrilyn Kenyon fans, he sort of reminds me of Acheron, who is the UBER-Man in my opinion.
I have now become enamored with the series and have already gotten the next one (Elijah). I loved Elijah's character, so I am looking forward to diving in!

Another excellent book by Ms. Foley! I really enjoy her writing style. She has a unique way with the dialogue between her characters, her descriptions of her characters (she makes Derek sound especially delicious!), and the relationship between her characters. Even after the climax of the book comes to the end and the villain is vanquished, she usually has her characters dealing with other personal issues before they can have their HEA. I like that. In this genre, anything that varies from the norm is usually very welcome! She is one of my favorite authors and I always eagerly anticipate her next book.

Loved this book! I am a big fan of this author, and this is one of my favorites by her. Her writing is warm and rich. Jack is a delicious hero, complete with flaws. Eden is wonderfully guileless and is perfect for Jack (as he says, she feeds his soul). Couldn't put it down!

Wow! Excellent book! This has to be my favorite in the IAD series! In my experience, usually when a author decides to do a book about the bad guy in a series, it turns out aweful (I won't mention any names)! But this one was great! Some people didn't like the book because Lothaire was an ass. Well, of course he is! And I love that Ms. Cole kept him true to character. He is arrogant, condescending, and brutal. He has an aweful past and has never had any kind of relationship with anyone, ever (except maybe Nix). So he doesn't know how. I had been wondering what kind of female Lothaire would wind up with. Boy was I surprised, and Ms. Cole did an excellent job with the evolution of their relationship. Ellie is the perfect match for Lothaire. I expected him to be difficult, expecially when he didn't realize that Ellie was his Bride. But then he didn't get all soft and mushy when he realized that she was The One, and that he actually had feelings for her. It was totally unexpected and deviated from the usual (which I always love!). And his wit is superb! I laughed out loud so many times! This one is a keeper for me.

Wonderful book----I thoroughly enjoyed it. As other reviewers have said, it has more explicit sex scenes in it. However, they weren't as graphic as some that I have read. She goes into more detail than the typical romance, but it is done very provacatively without using some words that I just prefer not to read (they take the romance out of things!). This book does not do that, it just makes you sweat (in a good way!). I found myself fanning myself a lot! Whew! And if you love your heroes tortured...this one is for you. Michael ranks up there with Lord Sin and Acheron on the tortured list! I can't wait to read the next book about Gabriel. Hopefully it'll be in the mail tomorrow.....:)

Wow, did not disappoint! Only the Warden could have done this story justice and made this non-traditional relationship work as the focus for a non-erotic genre book, and come off as totally hot too! Everyone reading this series wants Qhuinn and Blay to get their HEA. But I wondered how it would work as the focus of a full length novel. I had no reservations and complete confidence that Ms. Ward would make it work. And she did...in spades! Anyone with concerns about reading this book should put them away immediately. Especially if they are a fan of the series. The Warden keeps true to the characters, their past, their history together, (their total hotness!), and I loved seeing clips of all my boys (some more than others). Also is a key book in the developing storyline with Assail and Xcor. I can't decide who to like or dislike!

Excellent book! I love books where there is something 'different' about the hero. In this case, the hero is supposedly mad and has been locked up a number of years in an asylum. In fact, he may have a form of High Functioning Autism, from some of the characteristics mentioned. But I am in no way qualified to diagnose HFA. Anyway, there is some big mystery surrounding Ian and the murder of a lady-of-ill-repute several years back. Our heroine inadvertently crosses paths with Ian, and gets wrapped up in his life and the murder mystery. Beth appears to be one of those rare individuals (even more rare for a historical period) who seems to accept (if not understand) Ian's eccentricities. And it is wonderful to see Ian blossom under Beth's gentle care. I also LOVED the rest of the MacKenzie brothers (and their obvious love for Ian), and cannot wait to read their stories.
