This book was a fun read! The author writes well, and it was easy to get caught up in the behind-the-scenes of a food contest. I learned a lot, and now I think I might want to enter a contest myself! You do not have to be a foodie to enjoy this book, but if you are, guaranteed you will LOVE it!

Out of the Broom Closet: 50 True Stories of Witches Who Found and Embraced the Craft
Review Date: 11/2/2009

This book is "okay." I read about half of it, before I realized that every story is the same or had been heard before. I don't know whether my life is just not very glamorous (or magickal?) but I had a hard time believing EVERYTHING I read. I was looking for more stories about family reactions and what was done or said to promote acceptance and understanding.

Perhaps the real problem lies in the definitions. There is a difference in a religion and a belief in magic. For me, my religion is Wicca, but I just happen to also practice magic. I believed in and did magic before I had a definition for my religion. But they are separate.

So, when you "come out of the broom closet," are you telling others that your belief in God has expanded beyond Christianity/other and your view of a deity is different? Or are you saying you practice magic?

What a sweet deck. Although, only the Major Arcana, the artwork is very endearing. You will want to show these off or display them! The card meanings are very straight-forward but cat lovers will especially find extra meaning. Meow!

What a wonderful book! Look at that cover, that is the author at a young age. Sweet!

This book was such a breezy easy read. I absolutely adored the stories of Ruth Reichl's wide and varied life - and that's just up until about age 30! I envied every step she took, every pot she stirred. A fun journey that shaped her relationships - both with others and with food. Ruth's mom is hilarious. All the women, really, such characters!

Garlic and Sapphires was also a good read, but this one just so much better because it was so filled with personal moments.

Plus, the recipes she includes in this book all sound so tantalizingly tempting! Copy them all down and make each one, starting today!
