Unlike many novels, this book is not written at the elementary school level.
It is intelligent, funny and thought-provoking, an interesting look into the British foreign service in Africa. The life of the protagonist is the subject of the book, and you both care about him and just have to shake your head! Very entertaining reading.

In the fine tradition of the Mrs. Malory series, this book is an old fashioned detective story written with humor and intrigue.

A riveting story of friendship, what it means to be an author, and living a passionate life. It is all the more valid because it is based in reality, very frank and insightful.

This is a woman's singular journey and will ring true for anyone who lived through the 1960's or who has felt disconnected from their family. The prose are beautifully written, sometimes almost like poetry. A moving story, all the more so because it is true.
