This is an anthology of thirteen stories by Charles Baxter (the author of 'Believers') Many of these stories have been chosen by the panel for inclusion in the annual Best American Short Stories several years in a row.

Reading these stories, I found Baxter's writing to be similar in style and subject matter to Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio
