This is the first series I've read by this author, I wasn't sure what to expect but what I got into wasn't exactly what read. I have a problem with Nicole's offish, unforgiving additude. I wasn't happy with her character in the first book in the series and her grudge holding was just as bad in this book. She did redeem herself a little but the scorn woman was just a little over the top. I fely that the situation would have been funnier if the author had softened Nicole's anger at Jesse and allowed Nicole to move away from the scow. I wished Nicole would have moved forward and opened her ears to Jesse's side instead of not listening at all. Nicole wanted Hawk to move on, but she wasn't one to move passed her own problems with her sisters. I guess when she took in Raoul, yet couldn't even look at Jesse when she needed help. Even though I didn't care for all the situations in the book I didn't quit reading, or regret reading it. It's and okay read, and I will finish reading the whole series in hopes everything will end in an up swing.
