Over the past year, Kate McKenna and her sisters have had a hard time dealing with their mother's death. Kate was hoping that things would start getting better when she learns that the business she built from the ground up may be taken away from her. On top of that, Kate is nearly killed in an explosion while attending a reception at a friend's house. Kate makes a quick trip out of town to visit her best friend, Jordan Buchanan, who is having surgery. Later that night, a visit from Jordan's brother, Dylan, turns into a one-night stand. In the morning, Kate returns home only to be caught in another explosion, barely escaping with her life. Dylan follows her home. After hearing about the strange mishaps that keep happening to Kate, he isn't about to leave her side until he uncovers who wants her dead.

This is the fifth book in Julie Garwood's Buchanan-Renard series. I found it hard to put down. The romance was fun even though Kate drove me nuts, always thinking that she was not the right woman for Dylan. I enjoyed the rest of the book, including meeting Kate's McKenna cousins. Kate is such a goodie-two-shoes, it was hard to believe she was related to these McKennas.

I wasn't surprised by the villain, but I was shocked by the villain's partner. I certainly didn't see that coming. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
