The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want

Helpful Score: 1

The author presents short teacher/student lessons with a larger amount of time talking about what the lessons are trying to teach. The teacher is Merlin and the student is the young King Arthur with infrequent descriptions of Arthur as an adult. When reading about Merlin teaching Arthur something, I cannot help think about the Disney movie "The Sword in the Stone;" a somewhat playful attitude is maintained throughout the book. The lessons are pretty good and definitely echo, implicitly, or explicitly, spiritual life lessons from Buddhism, Taoism and Christianity. The lessons seem to focus around encouraging the reader to separate oneself from society's demands, attachments and cultural norms.
