IN THE HOPE OF RISING AGAIN was the December 2014 pick in my online book club, The Reading Cove.
I found this to be a rather boring book about a rich family that falls on hard times after the Civil War. The author's writing style made for a very dull narrative and I found I had no interest in what happened with the Riants and Morrows.
For book club sake I skimmed through to finish and renamed it IN THE HOPE OF NOT YAWNING AGAIN...but I did find it well-researched, and quite interesting that a post-Civil war era story would be penned by a twenty-something writer. Good on her.
I give it a C.
