Well, I really like historical romances, but I just wanted to shake the heroine in this book until her teeth rattled and tell her to get into a book with a less contrived plot! If only Helena had just used some sense, she probably could have avoided much of her anguish and problems caused by dashing around London in the dead of night. It also seems pretty far fetched that she decides she must learn to sword fight to protect herself when the hero (who also happens to be the man she approaches to teach her) keeps asking her to tell him what she fears and he will protect her. Sorry, she just seems like a very dimwitted young woman and I couldn't get pass that enough to enjoy the story. The female cousin and aunt she lives with didn't appeal any better. It seems that the females of this book were all neglible and weak in some way. The male characters were crafted much better. To me the character of Helena took away from the pleasure of the romantic angle as I couldn't understand why she couldn't trust the hero, nor why he was in love with her. Even the mystery of who is stalking Helena is rather boring. The best action is in the swordfighting competition among the men.
