"It's like a game of Would You Rather? Would you rather have perfect bliss for only three days or a solid but dull relationship all year long?" Mallory inherits a cottage on Nantucket from her aunt and her life as she new it changes. She settles and finds she loves the simpler life on the island. When her brother comes for a bachelor's weekend before his wedding, life changes. An interesting read....starts and the end and then tells the back story. Each chapter starts with a brief section for each year entitled "what were we talking about in....". Fun summer read!

I had so much fun reading this book! I felt like I smiled through every chapter. The premise is like one of my favorite films, Same Time Next Year. And every year for twenty eight years, I waited for them to wake up and realize what they were missing! Another fine story set on the island of Nantucket where you can practically smell the salt water when you turn the pages!

Elin Hilderbrand is always excellent. Her books are the perfect combination of beach read but with substance. Always a good story and always good characters. This one ended on a sad note but she does give a shout out to USC where her son is a junior :)

4.5 rounded to 5 (the only reason I knocked 1/2 star is because I wasn't totally for Jake & Mal's relationship when there's a spouse and kids on the side).

I LOVED the yearly recap blurb at the beginning of each year, beginning from 1993 and going to 2020... totally nostalgic in going back in time and remembering the big highlights of each year - how much the world has changed in 28 years!

Elin provides an escape to Nantucket in each of her novels, I feel like I'm on vacation (which we all need right now)!
