I really enjoy this series about the four women -- the cop, the ADA, the ME and the reporter.

A terrorist group is -- yes -- terrorizing San Francisco. The ladies must be MORE than one step of the small band of radicals who sign their word "August Spies" -- and the life of one of the ladies is in terrible peril because she works for what the group perceives as their enemy.

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. I thought that the plot was slow and really went nowhere. It did have some suspense but nothing that really pulled me in so much that I couldn't put it down. It was a slow read for me.

San Francisco Homicide lieutenant Lindsay Boxer, who narrates most of the action, is jogging with assistant DA Jill Barnhardt when Lindsay notices two things: first, bruises on Jill's shoulder; then the explosion of a nearby townhouse, into which Lindsay rushes to save a child. The townhouse, home to a greedy CEO and his family, was destroyed by members of a terrorist group calling itself "August Spies"; Lindsay's chase after the group, which commits further killings, brings her into close proximity to what promises to be a new series regular, Joe Molinari, deputy director of the Office of Homeland Security. Love blooms for Lindsay but, meanwhile, love has curdled at Jill's house, where Jill's husband is abusing her.

I've been reading this series for the first time from the first book. This is by far the most "action packed" and intriguing one. Great twists. I've started to read this with the intention of reading it when I'm on the cardio room at the gym, but I found myself finishing it up elsewhere!
Four and a half out of five.

Okay so I'm pretty much going to disagree with most of these reviews, but I did not find 3rd Degree to be a great book. Yes, it may be a great quick READ (I blasted through it in a day), but James Patterson is not my kind of writer. He uses lines like "this is much more... this is war", "the war had started", and other lines that kinda made me just go "really? people actually go for this?" Yet the story was suspenseful enough that I wanted to get to the last page, but purely because I wanted to know how it ended and not because I really enjoyed reading the book.
