One does not need to be religious to appreciate this tender story of a young girl who kidnaps/rescues the baby Jesus doll from the naivety scene on the lawn of the local church. Angela recognizes that the baby is obviously cold and needs a warm reprieve inside the her warm home. Getting baby Jesus home involves a few missteps - for one, when the short child tosses Jesus over the fence into her yard, the uncooperative Jesus lands in the neighbor's yard. Further complicating this compassionate rescue is the priest's frantic report to local law enforcement...

Angela, of course is the author's mother. He previously wrote about her in his book, Angela's Ashes.
