Benjamin Hale Cheever (born October 8, 1948) is an American writer. He is the son of writer John Cheever and brother of Susan Cheever. To date, he has written four novels ... The Plagiarist, The Partisan, Famous After Death, and The Good Nanny...and two nonfiction works, Selling Ben Cheever and Running Through History With an Unlikely Athlete. He is also the editor of The Letters of John Cheever.

Cheever has also been a reporter for The New York Times, The Nation, and The New Yorkers. He is also an editor at Reader's Digest. He has taught at Bennington College and The New School for Social Research. He lives in Pleasantville, New York, with his wife, the New York Times critic Janet Maslin, and their sons.
