Paolini knocks it out of the park! I am so grateful this is a cycle and not a trilogy; many questions get answered in this volume (and a few more get asked). As with any good series, the ending leaves me wanting more and wanting it NOW, but I am quite sure this brilliant young author will not disappoint us when he brings it to a close in a few years.

As with Eragon and Eldest, race relations are portrayed honestly, giving the adult reader many things to reflect upon even as the storyline progresses for the young adults the series was actually geared toward.

May this young man continue to write and inspire us all, not only with his original fantasies but in any genre he chooses.

Though not the best book in the series it still isn't horrible. I felt like Paolini has drawn out the series more than he should have. Granted this book was interesting but in parts it was like, yeah ok, we know move along please with the story. I was hoping he would answer more questions, like who the next rider is as there are more eggs to hatch, more battles etc. We really only get a few battles, more questions, and no closer to defeating anyone. We learn a bit but not much more, and really the character development isn't much. I honestly think that if he would have cut back more on being wordy and too detail oriented that he could have ended the series in this book.

I really enjoyed this book. The character development was interesting, and I'm looking forward to what is to come in the next book. I will say that I was able to put this one down when I needed to, but I was also willing to pick it back up later. So, while it wasn't the best book of the series so far, it was still very good.

Okay, I loved the first two books. I couldn't put them down, the action and character development in both just drew you further into the tale. That being said, I wish Mr. Paolini had finished this series. The first two novels set him up for some epic battles and conflict. Instead, the author chose to develope his characters further - some may like this, personally I felt it was a waste of time. There was much in this book that could have been left off. The ending, while not terrible left me feeling empty. Get on with killing the emperor already!!!

It took me nearly a month to finish Eragon, and then Eldest took me a mere 2 nights. This one, I figured, would fly much faster than either of them, since Paolini's style seems to be improving.

Well, I can't say much for his writing style, because I wasn't paying that much attention. I was too wrapped up in counting pages and wondering when the next chapter would end, and how much more I would have to suffer through. I discovered that I did not really care what happened to any of the main characters, the plot was dragging and the fact that there will be another book to end it all is mind-boggling. Perhaps it has simply been too long since I picked up its predecessors. Whatever the case, reading this book felt like I was combat-crawling through a foot of mud on a rainy day when its ten degrees below zero.

I think that Eldest was better, but this was a great book. I just hope that he doesn't make us wait another 2 or 3 years before the 4th and final book comes out.

Great series, my boys read it and recommended it to me. Fun to be able to discuss books with your kids. Well written and lots of twists so it isn't your standard fantasy plot line.

Book three continues the amazing adventure of Eragon and Saphira as they fight their way across Alegesia working towards a final battle with the evil King, Galbatorix. All the readers can do is hang on for the ride, and root for the heroes of the story, as they face odds one would wonder if they could over come. :P

This is the best one in the series so far and it sets the stage perfectly for when the last one comes out. Christopher paolini is an amazing author.

I loved it. I only wish I had my own Brisingr. I think the battles were very detailed. I love Aragon's Quest. Saphira is an elegant warrior indeed.

As with the first two books, the author spins a good tale, though it is very run-of-the-mill fantasy. It's entertaining -- the target audience is young adult, but anyone who enjoys fantasy will probably like this.

I'm not a huge fan of the books, though. Two specific things about these books I don't like center around the characters. First, there doesn't seem to be much personality difference between the characters. Second, there are annoying inconsitencies with most of the characters. For example, an all-knowing, all-wise elf will be a veritable fount of knowledge in one chapter, then in the next she is stunned when Eragon "discovers" something in the forest where this elf has lived for centuries. It doesn't hurt the story too much, but I did find it annoying.

The long awaited Brisingr seems to contain more pages than necessary.

Some of the battle scenes would be acceptable, but the details in EVERY battle scene drags the storyline out.

A lot of information provided does answer many questions, but the book seemed drawn out, like a blade, in many areas.

Saphira and Eragon mature further and bond even more as Dragon Rider and Dragon.

The ending was very lacking. It didn't even seem like an ending but just a book that was stopped and another will start.

The other two were much better. Hopefully the fourth (and hopefully final book of this series) will not be filled with as much "filler" and have storylines.

Having yet another chance to let myself fall back into the world of Eragon and his dragon Saphira was enchanting and I longed for every stolen moment to get away. Another book I could not put down. This chapter resolved some issues and started some new ones. Yes, I was a little bit dissapointed that we did not get to face the evil king this time however, I very much look forward to the continuing adventures of all the characters and I mourned the end of the book. I can't wait to see what comes next. A must read for any science fiction/fantasy lover.

This is book three of an excellent series . . . it was suppose to be the last book, but about 2/3rds of the way through I felt the story was not going to be successfully wrapped up in the remaining pages and was afraid I would be disappointed; at the end I read the author's note afterwards . . . he too had come to that conclusion while writing and so there will be a fourth book to finish the story -- yeah!!! except now I have to wait for the ending. Fantastic series and I think it will be worth the wait.

While I really enjoyed Eragon and Eldest, I found Brisingr left me a little disappointed. It felt a little as though Paolini was trying to stretch what could have been a trilogy into a four book series without need. I found some of the travels boring and pointless, some of the conversations unnecessary, and little progress in the story line itself. I have been told that The final book in the series redeems Paolini in these scores, but I haven't yet forgiven him for the failures of book 3.

I enjoyed "Eldest" more. This storyline was ok, but I found myself skipping whole paragraphs or even pages when things that didn't really matter to the overall story were dragging on and on and on.

However, the revelations about Eragon and Galbatorix were pretty cool. Looking forward to the final book. Just hoping it isn't years away.

As all of the preceding books in this series, this is wonderful. Great detail, well developed characters and a plot that makes sense. I loved it!

This is the same review for all of the books in this series.

This book is part trilogy called the Inheritance Cycle although it must be pointed out that it's four books, not three and should be called a tetralogy. The books are (in order) called Eragon, Eldest, Brisinger and Inheritance. For best effect, read them in order as it is in part a coming of age story.

Our protagonist is Eragon -- a 15 year old boy -- and his dragon is Saphira and they struggle to overthrow the evil King. If you are in to these fictional fantasy books set in a world far away, this is one series you should definitely you should read.

I loved each book and I loved the rich characters, the clarity of the fight between good and evil, the variety of species who must work together, and the visions of glorious battles with dragons and their riders.

I'm a big fan of the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, Star Wars, and these books rank right up there.

Well worth the read.

Eragon and Saphira have just barely survived the latest battle between the Empire and Varden, and learned the truth about Eragon's parentage. Their encounter with Murtagh and Thorn has made them realize that they desperately need to revisit their teachers in Ellesmera, but their multitudes of promises keep them from returning. They must help Roran recover Katrina from the Ra'zac, rally forces for the Varden, and find a way to thwart Murtagh. But along the way, they'll discover some dark secrets and learn the sickening methods behind their adversaries' strengths.

BRISINGR is a well executed follow-up to ERAGON and ELDEST. It moves at a brisk and almost businesslike pace, only dragging slightly near the center of the book, as Eragon and Saphira struggle to fulfill their promises. Readers will be glad to see that the duo, Eragon especially, has not been placed upon a lofty pedestal, and still admit ignorance at times, an element that adds just the right touch of plausibility to the book.

Paolini's descriptive writing is becoming easily recognizable, and his ability to draw similes and metaphors between the most unlikely objects only adds to his appeal, and contrary to what one might expect, will draw in reluctant readers. Like with the prequels, the author cleverly manages to sneak in colorful myths and historical stories into the book that only add to the reality and vividness of Alagaesia, and make for a more engaging read.

The plot of BRISINGR is a little less developed than its predecessors, and seems to serve more as a segue between the first two books and the conclusion of the lively series, although the revelation of certain secrets and the suspense and tension Paolini weaves into the pages go a long ways in making BRISINGR a quick read.

Seasoned Paolini fans will enjoy the story, and be eager to move on to the final book.

It was so long. The more pages I turned, the more bored I became. I will find out on the wikipedia how the series ends.
