This is the third book in the House of Night series. I think it was one of the worst books in the series; but it was still engaging and fast to read so I rate it as an "okay".

In this book Zoey returns to school poised to fulfill her obligations as the Leader of the Dark Daughters and Sons; she also needs to find a way to deal with Stevie Rae, she needs to deal with the evil Nefertiti, and she has to do all of this while juggling three hot guys.

Needless to say initially there seems like there is going to be a lot going on in this book; but there isn't much that actually happens. Zoey spends a lot of the book, and I mean a lot of it, complaining about how she can't choose between Erik (the hottest Fledgling boy in the school), Heath (her human boyfriend that she accidentally Imprinted), and Lauren (the Vampire Poet who seems to have the hots for her). This got old really fast. Especially since none of the relationships with any of the guys were really developed in any way. As typical with this series the writing of this book was mediocre and the plot fairly predictable.

The only thing that really redeemed this book was how Zoey interacts with Stevie Rae; this part of the book is really interesting and really tugs at your curiosity. Curiously Nefertiti was absent for almost the whole book, which really sucked a lot of the urgency out of the story.

Still, overall this was a quick and fun read. I still found the story to be engaging (if a bit annoying at times) and I think the series has a lot of potential to get interesting in the next book. This is still a series where I will never go out and buy the books new; they just aren't worth the money. I will continue to read this series mainly because I already have the next two books in the series; I found them used.

Zoey has a lot of boyfriends in this book. She asks herself if she is a ho. Well she IS! The whole multiple-partner- lead-a-guy-on thing is SO not doing it for me. I put the book down when I got to this point and I won't be picking up the series again. If that's what you're into, go ahead, read this book.

So far I think this was the best book in the series. I haven't read 4 or 5 yet though. I couldn't put this one down. It kept me captivated from the first page to the end. It's a really great book.

This series surprised me. It is marketed to teens and written about teen vampires, but the books have a more mature theme and dialogue to them than most of the books of the teenage genre. Written in the first person, it does give a more clear idea of what is going on in the main character's head. There are a lot of creepy elements including dark magic, invoking evil spirits and blood rituals. Warning: the characters in this book are teenagers who are quite promiscuous (even includes teacher/student and child/adult sexual relationships). Good story, good writing, not a great idea for young teenagers or those that would be offended by the sex and dark magic issues.

All of the House of Night books are really good. The way the characters act and think can be immature, but I still enjoyed the plot line. I've read them all, and can't wait to until the next one comes out!

P.S. - The setting is in Oklahoma, which I thought was really cool.. since I'm from there and all.

I've really enjoyed the House of the Night Series so far. P.C. and Kristin Cast do a great job of making the characters seem real. It doesn't sound like adults writing in a teen's voice. This might be a problem for some people, because the language used by the characters and the slang may get annoying. The angsty feelings of, "I hate my parents..." and, "Oh no! I have three extremely hot boyfriends! What am I to do?" Could actually grate on the nerves as well. But for me, I enjoy stepping out of my, oh so overwhelming adult life, and jumping into the shoes of a teenager (again). It's refreshing.

Now onto the story. Yes, Zoey Redbird has a ton of problems going on in Chosen, and no the ending is not a happy one. She has pretty much lost everything at this point. It's nice to have a book end, and there not be rainbows and happy kitties prancing around. Oh wait. There is a kitty at the end. Alright, little puppies prancing around. I don't think all books should have happy endings. Especially, if there is another in the series following hot on it's trails.

I have to say though, I saw the major plot twist coming from a mile away. Even though it seemed predictable to me I hope some people were shocked by how things ended. I also like the take on how these humans become vampyres, and the struggles they go through to complete this change. A lot of new developments to the story, and a lot of unsolved mysteries to take care of in Book Four. Which is due out in September of 2008.

Chosen is a good follow up to betrayed and it's packed tight with drama, drama, drama. If you have read the first two in this Young Adult series there is no reason for you to not pick up the third. If you haven't read any of this series yet, I suggest picking up Marked first, then Betrayed. You wouldn't want to miss out on anything.

Like the last book, Chosen really sucked me in. But yes, it did have some problems.

For one thing Zoey has three boyfriends, and that just isn't working for me. A lot of the times in the book, she keeps asking herself if she is a ho, and the way she can't seem to come to her senses about boys really makes her seem like one.

Also, Neferet didn't appear as much like she did in the other books, so it really didn't touch on the fact that she was evil.

We don't see as much of Shaunee, Erin, or Damien either. There is a lot going on for Zoey in this book, but I feel it's important to remember the other characters too.

Besides this books problems, I loved what they did with Stevie Rae, and I'm really starting to love where they're going with Aphrodite. I loved reading about how Zoey's powers are starting to get stronger too! It definitely is a good read, and I would suggest it to the people who have read the first two books. I will be continuing with this series. :)

Once again Kristin and PC Cast have me up into the late night hours reading because I cannot put the book down!! This book is just as good if not better than the first in the series. This book is book 3 of 4 in the series and its an awesome read!

Do not miss out on Zoey's adventures as she becomes a vampire and thus fulfilling her destiny!!

This was actually one of my favorite books in the House of Night series. I thought it kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. It was certainly a page turner :)

Without giving too much away...I had a gut feeling something wasn't right; but in the end, I was still shocked!!!

Having now read 3 books in this series I think I have figured out what is bugging me... It's like there are 2 points of view in a lot of areas of the book and I think it is because there are 2 authors. I still dislike the strong language throughout the book, but the plot is decent. Certainly not my favorite vampire series.

This is the 3rd book in the House of Night Series, and after reading Betrayed the 2nd book I was craving to finding out more, about the events in Zoey's life. I know that many people have become upset with the writing of the book or the plot, which I do agree had weakened in the 2nd book, but had made a complete comeback in this page turning novel.
Zoey returns to face new adventures and some of those adventures may have their consequences. As Z struggles to bring some humanity into her dead undead best friend Stevie Rae, she looks for help in her once enemy Aphordite, putting the friendships between her friends the Twins, Damien and Erik at stake.

Z is also is captured in the imprint she has with human ex-boyfriend as her vampire senses develop out of control for the craving of his blood. Also, she risks her friendship with her friends and her fledgling boyfriend Erik when she becomes attracted to a Vampire teacher Loren Blake. Their relationship leads down a slippery slope when their attraction becomes physical making Zoey think that Blake is falling in love with her. As she craves for Blake's attention she risks the relationship between Erik and her.
Zoey also, continues to question Nefert and her ways. As she and Aphordite take care of the undead dead Stevie Rae who had changed into something no one has heard of.
Then when adult vampires begin to get murdered Nefert decides to start a war on the humans, which can mean the end to everything.
I loved this book, I enjoyed the suspense between Zoey, Erik and Blake. It was almost like it formed a love triangle but, Heath was also somewhat involved but on a different level as in he and Zoey could never have a future together other than him being her meal .Also, I liked the worry feeling you got when you read about Zoey's friends being upset with her, it made you wonder what will they go through and still come out supporting their friend Zoey. I loved this book a lot more than betrayed. When you read the books one after the other I find that some of the events kind of get all jumbled up together. But, I still find them an enjoyable.

Being a 38 year old woman, I was not too sure about reading another "teen" book series (The Twilight Saga being the first). I loved this series almost as much as the Twilight saga. This series has a very different take on vamps but is still great! I have referred and even lent my books to my 14 year old to read. Very captivating series! It keeps you wanting to read more and more! It was very hard putting the books down!! A definite read for anyone who enjoys The Twilight Saga.

Trust is a powerful emotion, mostly unnoticed until it's broken.

Zoey can no longer trust her mentor, Neferet. But the bigger question Zoey must ask herself is how long her friends will continue to trust her.

Zoey's afraid that sooner or later, they will uncover the truth about Stevie Rae, who hovers on the brink of life and death. Technically, they watched her die, but she is still alive. She lives as a monster, with just a little piece of her soul left. Zoey believes that she can bring her best friend back; unfortunately, she'll need help from Aphrodite.

Not only does she have to keep Stevie Rae's "death" a secret from her friends, but she also has to make up excuses for admitting Aphrodite into their circle.

Readers will devour the third book in the HOUSE OF NIGHT vampyre series and eagerly await the next delicious morsel of the tale.

I like this series though the extreme teenagey-ness gets on my nerves at times. This installment was good though. Zoey faces some very tough personal challenges and fails at most of them. But it was a definite learning experience and hopefully she will bear up for future adventures. Untamed is really going to be interesting to see how Zoey rebounds from the disasters here will definitely be worth reading.

I did like where the Casts went with Stevie Rae. The fact that the authors obviously cared not only about her character but about her friendship with Zoe really showed.

The worst part about this whole three boyfriends mess is the fact that Zoe spends nearly the entire book lamenting about how she's a "ho" and doesn't deserve any of them.

And the rivalry between Neferet and Zoe that I had been anticipating? Almost non existent.

It's still fun, self-indulgent, and kind of lightweight. I'll be reading the next one when it comes out.

Third in the series, Zoey has really gotten into it this time! As, in 'Trouble' with a capital T on oh, so many levels. In this book, Zoey continues to follow Nyx, but makes some poor personal choices that allow her to end up in a situation that is not what we anticipate. The hook is, we know that in the next book, she will get out of this and go on to become the best high priestess ever!

These books are highly addicitive. They are quick and a fun read. Enjoy!

I am really liking this series. I like the relief from the "adult" romance of some books. It still has a great love triangle...There are just a few items that are irritating. Erik Night needs to become stronger or he is not any good for Zoey. I think Zoey fell way to quickly to the "love" situation with Loren. But all and all it is a good read and a good series. I am starting Chosen and am excited to see what happens at the House of Night and who Zoey ends up with...Why can't she have a human and a vampyre????Humm...let's see..

After reading the third installment in this series I've begun to lose some patience with the protagonist. Of course, it's hard to sympathize, or empathize or even condone, a protagonist that keeps three guys on the hook at one time. Zoey feels that she must keep secrets from her friends in this tale and ends up damaging those friendships, if not losing them. The same kinda goes for my enjoyment of her saga.

I'll most likely continue reading the series but some of the harmless affectations of the character have begun to be annoying. I am engrossed in the story and do want to see how it all turns out but it's not like some of my favorite fiction series where I truly enjoy spending time in their world. This one I'm ambivelent about.

The writing is good enough to let the story develop without getting in the way but it's not got many brilliant moments.

Perhaps this is just a weak link in an otherwise sound chain. I'm hoping that it will improve with the next book.

This was another great book in the series. I had a really hard time putting it down and loved the twists in it. Something about it reminds me of reading Harry Potter for the first time and just totally getting swept up by the characters and the plot.

This was a really good book especially at the end. I was sad for Zoey at the end. Especially when she found out she was being used. But I am glad the connection between her and Heath was broken. I wish it wasnt broke bc of her cheating on Erik.
Likes: Erik is now an adult Vampyre.
Zoey Redbird she is such a strong character. She grows more and more through these books. With every book.
Stevie Rae- I am so glad she is back. I missed her quirkyness. I am a country girl So I missed the country girl in Stevie Rae
I even liked Aphrodite- by the end of this book her and Zoey became friends. I hope it progresses more. But I dunno since she is unMarked now.
Dislikes- Zoeys stepdad; John Heffer drives me nuts. UGH! Throwing religion up in Zoeys face. Her mom as well. She follows John Heffer around like crazy. Not many dislikes to this book. Great Storyline to me.

Third book in the House of Night series, which follows a teenage fledgling vampire through her training. Very well written; intriguing story line.
