Quite good, not as good as "...Wrought Iron Flamingos" but still good. I never figured out where the "leaping loon" came in, but I like the series -- the main character is very likeable -- all the crazies are, well, crazy, but all in all a good light read (I actually learn some things from reading this series, too!)

This was a quick and fun read. I saw someone on Amazon refer to the first book in this series as a "cozy mystery" and I think that's an accurate description. There's not a lot of horror, and what horror there is, with regards to the murder that has taken place, is somewhat silly and zany. Meg is a likeable character and based on this book, I've added the others in this series to my wish list now too. :)

I love this series! Everyone is so quirky, you can't help but laugh out loud. Plus the mystery is good. Hope there are lots more coming.

4th in the series. A new batch of crazy characters for Meg to interact with and a murder that proves to be filled with likely suspects makes this book the most fun filled one yet. Throw in a one winged buzzard, a pack of dogs, and Spike, the aggressive beastie Michael's mother owns and you've got one heck of a read.

This series is getting funnier and more enjoyable. The first few books elicited a few chuckles from me but this one had me laughing out loud at the end. Meg's brother Rob has been successful at marketing a computer version of his role-playing game, Lawyers From Hell, and is now head of his own computer game company called Mutant Wizards. He engages Meg's help when he suspects something fishy going on at work, and Meg is ensconced at the switchboard while secretly playing detective in between taking care of the resident mascot George, a one-winged buzzard rescued by the staff. When the office clown and practical joker Ted is found strangled, Rob is arrested by the sherrif and Meg of course investigates to get her brother out of jail. What she finds is that Ted was a blackmailer, and everyone in the building, including the psychiatrists that they share office space with, has a secret worth killing for. Now she just has to figure out who actually did. The last showdown scene is a hilarious comedy routine that is deftly written and thoroughly enjoyable, and makes me look forward to the rest of the series.

Fifth in the Meg Lanslow series, this episode revolves around Meg's brother's computer game company, Mutant Wizards, and a murder that takes place there. More wacky escapades for a delightful heroine.

This series of books with birds in the titles (we've had peacocks, puffins, flamingos, and now buzzards and loons) about Meg Lanslow and her lovable but slightly off-kilter family (loons conjure up about the right image) is wonderful. None will probably ever be quite as funny as Murder with Peacocks (if you haven't read it, order it right now!), but that's OK; they're still funny, lovable, and very pleasant to read. This one is no exception.

What a zoo of people Donna Andrews dreams up and yet, I know a few people who tend toward the crazieness she conjurs up. Great read, especially if you want a good laugh.

As a favor to her brother, Meg agrees to tend the switchboard at his computer game company Mutant Wizards. For companionship, besides a crew of eccentric techies, she has a buzzard withone wing and her boyfriend's mother's nightmare dog. Not to mention the psychotherapists who refuse to give up their lease on half the office space. This is not what Meg had in mind when she agreed to help her brother. The atmosphere is so consistently loony that the office mail car makes several passes through the reception room, with the office practical joker lying on top of it pretending to be dying, before Meg realizes that he's become the victim of someone who wasn't joking at all. He's been murdered.

This is another funny book by Andrews, much enjoyed. Introducing Mutant Wizards, brothers business and all the nonsense that goes with it. Very good mystery.

I think Andrews gets funnier with every book. In this one, as a favor to her brother, Meg agrees to help her brother with his computer game company, "Mutant Wizards." The book opens with her trying to teach a temp to tend the switchboard. But the woman is scared off by the buzzard perched in the corner, Meg's brother performing a kata, and a techie riding the automatic mail carrier pretending to be dead. Besides the loony techies, she's also dealing with Michael's mother's dog, and the psychotherapists who refuse to give up their lease on half the office space. Then the practical joker turns out to be dead for real.

Meg Lanslow has been asked by her brother, Rob, to take over as office manager and figure out what's going wrong in the office. After a (annoying) staff member is killed, Meg and her father (with the help of the Caerphilly Police department) go sleuthing. Donna Andrews writes with attention to detail and a great sense of humor.

Love, love, love the Meg Lanslow mystery series. Quirky characters, fun mysteries. I love her eccentric (read crazy) southern family! Laughed out loud while reading this book.

This is the debut novel in Donna Andrews bird-themed mysteries. One could almost say it is a "hoot".
