My second book by her and what a great book it was. A definite addition to anyone's TBR list who happens to enjoy a good paranormal romance. This is the story of a fallen vampire who, to everyone's knowledge is beyond redemption. It is also the story of a ghost (Neomi) who has been wandering around her beloved home for 80 years. The vampire, Conrad Wroth, is pretty much kidnapped by his brothers and helded captive while they try to save his life by bringing him back from his fallen status. Never has this been done nor attempted and they risk their own lives by doing this. They take Conrad to an old mansion (Neomi's home) to recover. Conrad is more animal then man and in his crazed state he sees Neomi. After 80 years Neomi is extatic to know someone can finally see and hear her. Together they combat each other, Conrad's insanity, and the possibility of being together without being able to touch.

My feelings for this book are strong. I never really cried nor did I laugh overly much but what I did feel was a compulsion to understand how a HEA ending could happen for such two star crossed lovers. Conrad is one of those emotionally and physically wounded men that I love so much and Neomi...well she is an independent and strong women which I admire much. She was independent during the 1920's when women rarely were and I loved this. A compulsion alone is not enough to keep me reading a book from cover to cover by the way. What does, however, is excellent writing and characters that stand out. Not only are Conrad and Neomi standout characters but the secondary characters are so fascinating that a reader can only hope that each and everyone get their own books.

I don't often administer top ratings but my overall enjoyment of this book was tremendous so I give this book all 5 stars *****. Now I just need to find the rest in the series.

After the 1st three chapters it started too slow down abit so I re-read the series. It was mentioning werewolves and brothers that I knew I cared about but couldn't remember their stories. The middle and ending were well worth the slow part. I love this series because the timing of the books overlap and intersect. Very cool. Gives you a feeling of walking around the stories and getting different perspectives with each new book. Great author. All her books are worth reading.

They keep getting better. What an interesting story: ghost/crazed vampire relationship! This book is filled with the typical Ms. Cole tale: love with obstacles to overcome, humor and passion. Each book builds upon the previous and each book gets more enjoyable.

Walked by it twice on the store bookshelf, then decided to give it a read. I wasn't ready for a modern day romance, but I really enjoyed it. I'm more of a Historical Romance fan, but this whole series is great! I recommend the whole series (except Kiss of the Demon King- which I have yet to read)! All really excellent reads!

Loved Conrad & Neomi's story. How can a ghost and a fallen vampire fall in love and be together? Well K.C. found a way. I think I ended up falling in love with Conrad in the end, how can you not? It was fun seeing the Wroth brothers interact with each other and also seeing past characters pop up to help out with the story.
Definately one of my favs.

Book four in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark (IAD) series we meet Conrad Wroth, the long missing Wroth brother. He's a vampire in blood lust meaning he's been drinking blood from the source. Imprisoned by his brothers who are trying to rehabilitate him, he meets Neomi, a ghost who inhabits the house in which he's trapped.

While the basics of this story, and even the characters, are fairly similar to Cole's other books, she gives this story a unique situation. As the heroine is a ghost, the characters are unable to act on any lust or sexual interest - not even a kiss as she has no corporeal form. It takes their longing for each other to another level and while there are some sexy scenes, no real sex scenes happen until quite late in the book.

All that said, I'm on my second reading of the series and both of these characters were fairly forgettable for me. I enjoyed the story as much the second time as the first, but when thinking on the series, this couple doesn't stand out for me. And as with Black Dagger Brotherhood/JR Ward books, I am not in love with the notion of a ghost as a major romantic character.

Conrad is one of the Fallen vampires, having committed the forbidden act of killing while feeding. He has become mad and powerful, as well as cold. His brothers trap him in an old house in an attempt to rehabilitate him. This house happens to be the haunting place of ghost Neomi, who in life was a beautiful ballerina. Conrad is the only one who can see Neomi, and he quickly comes to enjoy her company--despite the fact that she is as insubstantial as air.

I was initially uncertain about the concept of a ghost as the female lead--but as it turns out, it makes the story. The imagery of the long-dead ballerina is beautiful and fascinating. To me it was incredibly romantic to have two characters fall in love although they could not touch one another.

As the story unfolds, we see a lot of return characters from previous books--including Nikolai, Sebastian, Bowen, and Mariketa. If you are a fan of the series, this is a nice bonus.

I recommend this book to any fan of The Immortals After Dark series. I highly recommend the series to any paranormal romance fans looking for something fun and different.

I had reservations when I started this book since Neomi was a ghost. I'm not a big fan of ghost romances, but Ms. Cole did a great job getting me to care about Conrad and Neomi. I thought they had wonderful chemistry and I loved the slow buildup between the two. I liked how well matched they were and how both of them needed healing. I did wonder how they would have their HEA and while I was a tad bit disappointed, this was a great read and a wonderful addition to this series.

Wasn't sure at first if I was going to like this book, but I loved it. It was both interesting and funny. I can't get enough of these characters. Nix is a hoot and I liked Mariketa even more. Worth the read. Oh yeah, the Wroth brothers are still yummy.

Alright, some things were clever. Use of Valkeries/phantoms/vamps alright, however I'm not one for a series that has all creatures existing without any explaination. Also the book reached a point where it could have ended multiple times and then...kept going.

Other romance/erotica rules that were terminally broken:

1) Thou shalt not have a dead female lead who suddenly gains life, then dies then gains life again easily as can be
2.) Thou shalt not have a male lead with performance issues in a paranormal romance. VAMPIRES DON"T SHOOT EARLY! (unless they're vampire assassins taking after 'Fet...and then not in bed!)
3.) Thou shalt not top off on the mary sue drama meter on a bi page basis.

Ghost and crazy vamp fall in love story is cute...but the totally happy ending with random set of twins stick in on the end = fail.

Read it and want my three hours back but if you like mary sues or need something to read while stuck in the airport (or want a laugh; mentions of Mike Rowe did make me quirk a brow for a moment) then this is a good one for that.

Kresley Cole's IAD series continues to get better and better. This book has everything romance, suspense, humor and a great story. These books are not just about sex (not that it's not hot)Ms. Cole writes a good story. Neommi and Conrad are perfect together the way the author compliments the two main character is great, she can weave a wonderful story. I love the way characters from the earlier books show up. (Nix rocks) This book is a keeper to be read again and again just like the rest of this series.

I had some reservations about the ballerina ghost plot but for some reason after I found out she was also a burlesque dancer, my affection for her grew.

Some warnings about this book: the beginning is really slow. You have to have read most of the earlier books to appreciate some of the side characters and the background on Conrad, and the plot isn't as straight forward as some of the other ones (you just happen upon it).

Other than those things, it really picked up towards the middle and was quite entertaining. Great addition to the story of course are Nix and the girl bonding conversations.

This isn't the best book in the series but I am glad I read it. There were definitely some really fun parts.

I love this series and this is one of my favorites! I worried how these two could ever get together; One being a ghost, the other a vampire. But I was not disappointed. If you are reading this series, you will not be disappointed. Conrad is a great HOT vamp that will curl your toes!

The missing Wroth brother is finally found and captured by his brothers. He is a vampire, an assassin, and he succumbed to his blood lust and has killed while feeding, therefor marking him as evil and quite crazed from the memories of those he has killed. His brothers put him in an old house near their home in Louisiana to try and help him, turns out he is not the only occupant. Naomi was a famous ballerina at the height of her career in the 20's and was brutally murdered in her newly renovated home. The same home the vampire assassin now resides in. She is a ghost, refusing to leave her life behind, she stays in her home, unable to leave its walls for 80 years. Conrad is the only one who can see her, and they soon find out through various plot twists and obstacles that she is his fated bride. Find out how that goes down...its good.

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the others, it was great, but not my favorite of the series. I love the humor and sarcasm of the female lead character, she is hilarious, and the face that she is a ghost well, that was new. I couldn't even figure out how that was going to work out for the main characters, but as usual, it does. Good book, and excellent series.

All of the books in this series can be read as "stand alones", but each definitly adds to the series as a whole.

This one starts a little slow, and was kind of dark to start with, but I liked the eventual interaction between the two main characters and how it wove into the series story.

The ending was a big surprise too! There are always interesting twists and turns to the variety of immortals . . .

Fantastic series! If you arent reading it you should be. Conrad the blood eyed mental vampire is captured by his brothers Nikkoli, Murrdock, & Sabatian Wroth. They stick him in a mansion chained and drugged hoping to return him to sanity. Their plan is to find him his vampire Bride. Neomi the prima ballerina is a ghost doomed to haunt and repeat her death in the mansion Conrad is stuck in. Conrad is so charged with others powers and memories that he appears to be the only brother that sees Neomi ghost. Conrad spends a good chunk of the book believing she is a hallucination of his dementia. When he finally confronts her, he is completely smitten. Neomi struggles to help her vampire recover, and purposely keeps him for her own pleasure.

I love this series. I think a bigger part of this book was about Neomi and her struggles as a ghost. I wish there was just a little more with Conrad. HOT & Sexy was the theme towards the end. Cole wrote a very romantic relationship. There just seemed to be a little less drama going on in this one. The first three had nonstop action. This book was slower paced with fewer scenarios.
